The M5 World Championship will take place in the Philippines in December, according to an announcement made by Mobile Legends developer MOONTON Games just before the M4 World Championship’s grand finals.

Just before the explosive all-Filipino affair between defending champions Blacklist International and national rivals ECHO, MOONTON revealed the location of the M5 World Championship. The M5 World Championship, the most prestigious and significant Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition of the season, will take place in the Philippines in December 2023.

The M5 would be the first MLBB world championship to be held in the Philippines. The previous MLBB world championships were hosted in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. The decision to host the event in the Philippines was influenced by the country’s dominance in the game.

The Filippino players have staged all-Filipino finals for two seasons in a row and won three consecutive world championships. The developers have not yet released any other details on the M5 World Championship. However, it is anticipated that the competition would once more invite 16 teams from the top 12 nations to compete based on the structure and format of the previous season.

Philippines receives its long-awaited reward for its dominance in the sport

After scheduling an all-Filipino grand final for the second season in a row at the world championship, the Philippines maintained its dominance of the MLBB competition scene. The Philippines has won three Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) championships and three M-Series world championships titles, proving why the country is home to some of the most highly skilled MLBB players in the world.

In the second iteration of the competition, the M2 World Championship, Bren Esports of the Philippines won the world title after defeating the Burmese Ghouls of Myanmar in a fiercely contested best-of-seven final.

ONIC PH and Blacklist International, two Philippine MLBB powerhouse, advanced to the M3 World Championfinals after dominating in the upper bracket and lower bracket, respectively. To become the second team from the Philippines to win the MLBB World Championship, Blacklist vanquished ONIC PH 4-0 in the grand final.

The Indonesian team EVOS Legends won the inaugural MLBB global championship competition, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2019. Now that the M5 is scheduled to visit the Philippines, the reigning world champion Blacklist will have the opportunity to defend its title in front of a home crowd and maybe bring the nation its fourth consecutive championship.
