Team Secret defeated Gen.G Esports 2-1 to advance to the Grand Final of the VCT Pacific LCQ,, where they will face Zeta Division for a spot at Valorant Champions 2023.

Team Secret started their journey in the LCQ with a dominating victory over Gen.G in the Upper Bracket Semifinals. With this victory, Team Secret advance to the finals, where they faced a brutal defeat against Zeta Divison. On the other hand, Gen.G was demoted to the lower bracket and needed to defeat RRQ to maintain their hopes. After a grueling best-of-three series, the team defeated RRQ to earn a rematch against Team Secret. Here is how the match unfolded:

With a 3-1 victory over Gen.G, Team Secret is one win away from Champions spot

Team Secret picked Haven to kick things off, but their opponents appeared more comfortable on the map. Their aggressive approach allowed Gen.G to gain a strong foothold, leading 9-3 after halftime. Team Secret finally found some steam in the second half as they found a few easy cracks into the bomb site to cut down the deficit to 8-10. After Secret did all it could to turn the 9-3 curse true, Kim “Meteor” Tae-O powered Gen.G to an incredible 13-10 victory.

Secret retaliated on the second map Pearl, establishing an early 3-0 to put their opponents on defense. Despite the sluggish start, Gen.G was able to catch up to the lead with a remarkable six-round winning streak. While Team Secret added two more rounds to the tally, Gen.G maintained a 7-5 lead going into the second half. The game, however, took an interesting turn after Secret’s Adrian “invy” Reyes stepped up with a spectacular 30-kill performance and led the team to a nail-biting 13-11 triumph.

After gaining momentum, Secret kept it going on Ascent and shredded the Korean team’s defense to take an 8-0 lead. Though Gen.G was able to pick a couple of rounds for themselves before the break, the damage was too severe to be repaired. Secret rallied again in the second half and won three consecutive rounds to seal the map with a 13-2 victory. The Filipino player, invy, put forth another impressive performance for Secret, racking up 23 kills with an ADR of 253.

Gen.G picked Lotus to turn things around but they crumbled against the Secret’s firepower through the first half. Going into the second half with a 10-2 lead, Secret faced heavy resistance in the second half from the Korean squad. Despite Gen.G’s best efforts, Secret managed to secure the required rounds to close the map with a victory. With a total of 94 kills over the four maps, Invy stood out as Secret’s top player.
