OXY and vanity to signs to Cloud9 for VCT 2024

The VCT offseason is in full swing, and all the VALORANT’s top competitive-level teams are exploring options to form a powerful lineup for next season. One of these organizations is Cloud9, which had a really disappointing year and needs a clean slate to have good results in 2024.

In addition, several reports surfaced in the last hours, highlighting that Anthony “vanity” Malaspina and Francis “OXY” Hoang have reportedly signed a deal with Cloud9 for 2024. As a result, if this move materializes, it would be the return of vanity to what was his home for 2 years (2021-2023) while OXY was part of G2 Esports in the VCL NA.

Reports claim that Cloud9 would sign OXY and vanity for VCT 2024

According to Alejandro “anonimotum” Gomis, the popular esports journalist, Cloud9 would have reached an agreement to sign OXY and vanity for VCT 2024.

Similarly, the report also highlights that the revamped C9 lineup revolves around two players, Erick “Xeppaa” Bach and Jake “jakee” Anderson. However, there is no mention in Gomis’ report of the team’s current best player, Nathan “leaf” Orf, so, no word on what will happen with him. Also, if we dig into Riot Games’ general contract base, leaf is under contract until 2025 with C9. However, the lists have not been updated in the last 2 weeks.

If vanity and OXY’s arrival is confirmed, it means a radical change in Cloud9’s structure for the next season. Let’s remember that, in the last few days, the North American organization released Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, Dylan “runi” Cade, and Matthew “mCe” Elmore. Likewise, the season for C9 was very close to straightening out, as they came very close to qualifying for the VALORANT Champions 2023 in the VCT Americas League playoffs and then the VCT LCQ.

Cloud9’s 2023 season

There is no doubt that the 2023 C9 season was full of ups and downs and problems from the very beginning since let’s remember that it all started with the departure of Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and vanity before the start of the season, but after the VCT LOCK//IN.

The American superstar, yay, only played 7 games with the C9 lineup, and only 2 were in an official VCT tournament.

The arrival of vanity and OXY could turn the tables on this Cloud9 team, as both players can bring a lot to the team. Vanity is a proven talent both in the VCT and within C9, so the players know him inside out.

On the other hand, OXY comes from playing an outstanding season with G2 in the VCL NA, and even though the team underperformed, OXY was the one who shined in all aspects.

Right now, we can only wait for the confirmation of these moves by the organization.
