In a community of more than 100 million gamers, one man’s name is known by all. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is about to turn 27 and he’s spent a decade playing for T1. During this time, he won Worlds three times and played in two other Grand Finals. The last one was lost by his team in 2022.

More recently, Faker was offered the possibility to buy T1 stocks that are worth around $10.5 million. So at this point, he’s practically part of the T1 family and has invested his adult life up until this point into this esports organization. In an industry in which contracts often don’t even last one year, he spent a decade playing for a single club.

Given the context, it is no surprise that T1 decided to release a limited-edition merch to celebrate Faker’s 10-year anniversary.

What the merch consists of

T1 fans who want to support Faker or simply own something that might be worth a lot of money 20 years from now can purchase three unique apparel pieces.

One of the pieces is a T-shirt that displays Faker’s name. Below the name it is written: “Unkillable Demon King”, which is not 100% accurate but T1 fans will get the reference. The T-shirt also contains a cute penguin and the T1 symbol.

What’s interesting about the T-shirt is its gray color. Gray is associated with simplicity and elegance, two attributes that certainly describe Faker’s character. Despite his nickname, the man is not trying at all to live a fake life or to create some kind of false image. He’s not playing a character. He’s always been himself.

The two other pieces in the collection are a competition T-shirt and a nice jacket that looks really well-designed. Both of them will likely appeal a bit more to the general public, who wants to feel the prowess displayed by the LoL player.

No doubt, numerous people will order these items and will keep them somewhere as part of their dedication to League of Legends and T1. And not just in South Korea. Faker is known at this point all over the world, even in rival esports communities such as Dota 2. The man is a living legend and could easily win his fourth Worlds trophy in 2023.

Whether he’ll be able to do it or not, we’ll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, MSI is currently taking place and T1 are part of it.
