In the last few hours, one of the teams that had not yet announced moves in their CDL roster, the Seattle Surge, announced the separation of all members and players of their team. In addition, this became one of the biggest moves in the CDL teams, as they eliminated all their players, Head Coach, Analyst, and even their General Manager.
Undoubtedly, every team will want to wipe the slate clean as the free agency period has just begun in the CDL. There is no team that we can say completely dominated the season that just ended. However, mention must be made of both the Subliners, who won three major trophies in the season, and the Seattle Surge, who, while not winning any Majors, surprised by finishing fourth in the 2023 CDL Championship.
Seattle Surge announce the departure of all its players
Less than a day into the Call of Duty League free agency period, the Seattle Surge said goodbye to their four players and the team’s Head Coach. To each of them, the Surge dedicated a special Tweet thanking them for all their contributions while with the organization.
All the work deserves all of the praise. For that reason, we thank @MackMelts for being a selfless and integral player for the Surge these last two seasons.

As a result, we now have the following players and Head Coaches hitting free agency:
- Amer “Pred” Zulbeari
- Daunte “Bb” Gray
- Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi
- Makenzie “Mack” Kelley
- Sam “Fenix” Spencer – Head Coach
This squad surprised everyone after finishing fourth in the CDL Championship 2023. However, this was insufficient for the organization to keep them for the next season. In addition, it is also worth noting that the GM of the team, John “Revan” Boble said in a Tweet that all the contracts of the squad, including his, had ended, so they are all free agents as of now.
All of the contracts on the Surge have run their course, that means I’m a free agent now as well.
If any teams are interested, contact me here or through email ([email protected]). Open to relocating anywhere.— John Boble (@RevanJB) July 3, 2023
Return to the Surge?
Just because everyone on the roster and even the GM is in free agency doesn’t mean they can’t return to the organization. However, throughout the season, we have heard rumors about possible Surge player moves.
For example, Pred came very close to signing with OpTic Texas after Seth “Scump” Abner announced his retirement in the middle of Major II. However, Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, the founder of OpTic, said the Surge decided to keep Pred for the entire season despite the big buyout offer made by the green wall.
Thank you, @Pred.
Your presence was felt across the League the moment you entered it. We’re immensely proud to be a part of your journey and look forward to watching you dominate for years to come. 💪 pic.twitter.com/LrdyZJIkEI

On the other hand, it was also rumored that Bb would leave the Surge at some point this season, but his fate is still uncertain. Finally, Mack and Accuracy could not show their full level of play throughout the season. However, in the CDL Championship 2023, it was quite the opposite, and they played admirably to lead the team to fourth place in the tournament.
The now-former Surge squad led the organization to its greatest successes to date. In addition to playing in the Major I final against the Subliners in the 2023 season, the team finished in fourth place in the 2023 CDL Championship, third place in the 2022 edition, and, most importantly, they managed to win the 2022 CDL Major Stage 3.
Future of the Seattle Surge
The immediate future for the Surge and the rest of the CDL teams is completely uncertain, as the offseason and free agency period has just begun. However, there will likely be many coveted free agents in the coming days, as many teams have decided to shed their entire roster to begin a rebuild.
Likewise, the team now has no GM or Head Coach, so we will have to wait and see the team’s approach to building a competitive roster for next season.
