ASUS launches the ROG Strix line of notebooks, where the G16 and G18 are available. It can be said that so far, it is a line of gaming laptops that is more ambitious.

With technological advances, gaming laptop manufacturers have been able to reduce the size of the equipment but increase its power. In this way, they have offered an equally viable alternative to desktop PCs for gaming.

ASUS is not far behind and has launched two high-powered laptops to play all the available games; we are talking about the Strix G16 and Strix G18.

Processor and GPU

Both notebook models (Strix G16 and Strix G18) feature the latest hardware; the main difference is the screen size.

The hardware features an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, with 14 cores that can switch between high efficiency and high performance and 12 threads. In addition, this processor is paired with the notebook version of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU, which gives us access to a technology that will be different in terms of DLSS 3 performance.

This line of notebooks features NVIDIA Advanced Optimus technology, which allows the notebook to boost performance by 5% to 10%.

In addition, this comes in with the new DDR5 RAM for increased performance, accompanied by a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD storage memories that reach write and read speeds of up to 7000 MB/s.

Strix G16 and Strix G18 notebooks feature an improved ROG Intelligent Cooling system to regulate temperature.

Different display options

The new Strix G16 and Strix G18 have 16-inch and 18-inch screens, respectively, and use the 16:10 format that is becoming widespread in this type of equipment. Therefore, depending on our requirements, we can choose between two different types of panels.

The most intriguing is the Nebula Display, which has:

  • QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
  • 240 Hz frame rate
  • A reaction time of 3 milliseconds
  • NVIDIA G-Sync technology
  • Dolby Vision HDR certification

The most economical alternative has the following specifications:

  • Full HD (1080p) display
  • 165 Hz refresh rate
  • NVIDIA G-Sync and Adaptive-Sync Technology
  • Dolby Vision Certification

Other details

The Strix G16 and Strix G18 feature a high degree of customization, as any gaming device should. Users can adjust graphics or processor settings and choose from various visual performance modes. This is possible thanks to the ASUS Aura Sync RGB RGB LED lighting system.

Another essential component is the keyboard, which features switches with a technique dubbed ROG Overstroke to register keystrokes more quickly.

The 90 Wh battery allows us to play or surf for hours and supports USB Type-C charging up to 100 W in addition to conventional charging through current, which allows us to recharge the battery by 50% in just 30 minutes.
