Fortnite recently attracted a lot of attention when it hosted the groundbreaking live event on Twitch called “Big Bang” that included a performance by rapper Eminem. The event marked the end of Chapter 4 and caused some technical issues due to the high volume of viewers. As a result, many viewers followed the action via Twitch streamers.

Fortnite remains a huge draw for players across multiple platforms. The game demonstrated this once again with a successful event that attracted players in droves. The event said goodbye to the familiar original map and introduced new features and game modes.

Eminem leads to server overload

Fortnite took its players to a multiverse where, among other new features, a LEGO mode was presented that transforms players into LEGO characters within a new Battle Royale map. A new Rocket Racing mode was also introduced in cooperation with Rocket League, allowing players to race the vehicles from the popular game. A highlight was the in-game interactive music festival, where attendees were treated to a live Eminem concert, enjoying hits like “Lose Yourself” and “Godzilla”. Unfortunately, so many people wanted to see Eminem that the servers became overloaded and technical issues arose, so many people had to go to Twitch to watch Eminem via their streamers.

Viewership in the millions

Popular streamers have noticed an increase in viewership, with streamer Ninja, for example, reaching a peak of 579,780 viewers, more than 4.3 million total views and over 2.1 million unique viewers.

Players can rejoice as it is announced that The Weeknd will be performing another in-game concert on December 9.

Fortnite players receive rewards after tech glitch at Big Bang event

Fortnite held a big end-of-season event, but due to technical difficulties, many players were unable to experience it.To make up for this, the development team has decided to reward affected players with bonuses. Anyone who was active in the current OG season will receive 750,000 OG Pass XP and the Retro Back Bling The Clawz, and Spectra Knight quests will be automatically marked as completed. The issues caused the game to shut down for almost five hours, resulting in a temporary game halt.Given the overload, the team opted for a final showing of the event at 10 p.m. CT to wrap up the day.

Despite the challenges, the Fortnite team were pleased with how the OG season went and want to offer it again in the future. They referred to a documentation of events for the year 2024, in which possible dates for a repeat of the OG season are being examined.Chapter Five of Fortnite is in the starting blocks, but the exact start time is still unknown.
