After having a rough journey through the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 2: Division I, OG managed to secure a spot in the Berlin Major 2023.

Despite spending the majority of the season at the bottom of the standings, OG made an incredible return to add another chapter to the team’s lengthy history of Cinderella runs.

In the first three weeks of the WEU league, OG had four losses, which put them in a very precarious position during the Spring Tour. They were one defeat away from giving up on their chances of competing in the Major, but an incredible run in the second half of the tournament saved the team from disaster.

With a crucial victory over Entity in their last league matchup, OG forced a fourth-place tiebreaker game against Ooredoo Thunders. In the thrilling best-of-three series, OG won the first round to take a substantial lead in the contest and put Ooredoo on the defensive right away.

Despite losing that opening game, OT was able to even the series thanks to a stunning performance in game two. Riding the momentum, Ooredoo maintained their lead for the majority of the final game as well, but OG finally used their prowess in comebacks to their advantage and won the game following the 40-minute mark.

Although the entire team played well in the tie-breaker, the carry player Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev and the midlane player Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov stood out for OG with their exceptional skillset. The squad now has an opportunity to earn more DPC points through the Berlin Major 2023 and the third tour of the DPC season, which will help them qualify for The International 2023.

Entity and Nigma Galaxy failed to make it to the Berlin Major

Together with OG, three additional teams, Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, and Gaimin Gladiators, who finished the tour in the top three positions, respectively, have also guaranteed their spots at the ESL One Berlin Major.

While OG fans were thrilled to see their favorite team finally qualify for the Major, fans of other popular teams like Entity and Nigma Galaxy did not have the same privilege. Entity had a solid start to the Spring Tour with a 2-0 series score, but they dropped 10 straight games to finish the league in the bottom three. Nonetheless, they were able to end the losing streak and pick up two victories in the three-way tiebreaker to avoid relegation.

Nigma Galaxy, on the other hand, lost both of its tiebreaker games against Monaspa and Entity, finishing bottom of the league as a result of their poor performance.
