Octane announces his imminent retirement from the CoD competitive scene

Through an eight-minute video, gaming legend and former world champion Octane announced his retirement from the competitive Call of Duty scene.

As a result of this move, we have a new vacancy within the LA Thieves lineup. Recall that on the eve of the end of contracts for CDL players on July 2, many teams are making drastic moves in the last few hours.

In the emotional video, Octane confirms that “he has finished” his time in the professional Call of Duty. Moreover, the player decided to make a “heart-to-heart” without any script to announce his retirement to all the fans of the CoD esports community. However, this does not mean that the player is completely retiring from the game, as immediately after announcing his retirement, he signed on with 100 Thieves as a content creator.

About Octane

The career of the 26-year-old legend, Octane, began in the 2015 season at the time of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. From then on, Octane began to make very good impressions on the scene and helped a new generation of players climb the competitive scene. However, as the years went on, the player more than proved that his level of play was getting higher and higher.

In the video, Octane mentions that he considers himself “ticked all the boxes” regarding CoD and considers his career “successful.”. Furthermore, the former LA Thieves player says that, during his career, he evolved as a player, teammate, and person, so it’s time to hang up the controller.

Octane has 10 championship titles, including the 2022 CDL Championship he won with LA Thieves. However, he also has different MVP awards, such as CWL Anaheim Open 2017 in his showcase, while he was present in Team of the Year in 2020 and CDL All-Star 2021.

In addition to LA Thieves, Octane played for Rise Nation, Envy, Luminosity Gaming, Seattle Surge, 100 Thieves, and a brief internship at OpTic Gaming.

Finally, LA Thieves and all the CDL teams will start looking for new players for their lineups for the 2024 season starting next July 2. Remember that, from that date, teams can sign all players in the coveted Free Agency.
