Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi is reportedly set to depart Fnatic following the team’s poor performance in the first half of 2023, according to a report by Dexerto.

According to reports, Fnatic’s disappointing performance at IEM Dallas 2023 prompted the organization to revamp ahead of the Fall season in August. As a result, the 22-year-old is now considering his options after spending a year with the club. The Danish AWPer is not in the plans for the upcoming season as Fnatic continues to try out alternative possibilities as part of their summer squad shuffle. According to recent reports, Fnatic is interested in two different AWPers: Erkhan “gokushima” Bagynanov of the Russian team HOTU and Aurélien “afro” Drapier of the former LDLC.

Will Fnatic ever regain its footing?

After Fnatic decided to give up the team’s Swedish core in favor of a European lineup in the summer of 2021, the team has seen a number of players come and leave over the past year. During various competitions in 2022, like the ESL Pro League S15 and the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Europe RMR A, they were forced to compete with substitutes and academy players. The squad fell in the ESL Pro League Season 15 quarterfinals and was unable to advance to the Antwerp Major as a result.

Additionally, they failed in the closed qualifier for IEM Dallas 2022, which compelled the organization to bench Alexander “ALEX” McMeekin and Valentin “poizon” Vasilev, leaving Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson and William “mezii” Merriman as the team’s only remaining players. To complete the lineup, Fnatic acquired nicoodoz from Copenhagen Flames in June 2022 along with teammate Fredrik ‘roeJ’ Jørgensen. Nicoodoz was one of Denmark’s top players in the first half of 2022 before joining Fnatic.

He represented Copenhagen Flames at the two Majors in 2022 and rose to become one of the top AWPers in the region. With a 1.20 rating on LAN versus the top 20 teams, the 22-year-old sniper assisted his team Copenhagen Flames in making it to the Champions Stages and Legends Stage of PGL Major Stockholm and PGL Major Antwerp 2022, respectively.

Despite the new player, the European team had a difficult time going far in 2023 as well. Their only two noteworthy performances were a quarterfinal appearance at the IEM Rio Major and a win at the Elisa Masters Espoo. Fnatic’s spring season came to an end with two lackluster performances, as they finished 9-11th in the Legends Stage of the BLAST.tv Paris Major and finished last at IEM Dallas after two straight losses in the group stage. Since joining the squad, he has averaged a 1.08 HLTV rating and a 1.03 Impact.
