Schalke plays last professional game in LoL. Things had been looking rather bleak for Schalke 04 for some time. Now they have played their last professional game in LoL. After the Summer Split 2021 Schalke sells its place in the League of Legends pro league LEC to a Swiss team.

Schalke’s last match against Fnatic was once again a defeat. In May 2016, Schalke 04 bought the team “Elements” and with it the license to play in the professional league LEC. Because if you want to play in the league, you can’t earn the license, you have to buy it and apparently it is pretty expensive.

Difficult times for Schalke

However, Schalke got in some financial trouble over the years and Corona, of course, didn’t make things better. Because the club needed money, the license for the LEC was sold to a Swiss team. From next year team BDS will compete instead of Schalke. Actually, no one is very surprised that the air is out since it was announced that Schalke will be sold. After 10 defeats in a row, Schalke finishes the LEC at the bottom of the table.

Schalke was the weakest team in the LEC throughout the summer split. They went 3 -15 and lost 10 games in a row. At the same time, the team looked quite promising in the Spring Split 2021. At that time Schalke played 9 – 9 and finished 4th in the regular season. In recent years, Schalke came close to 3rd place in the LEC several times but unfortunately it was not quite enough.

When it was clear that Schalke would sell the license, any motivation was just out. First they sold one of their biggest talents, midlaner Felix “Abbedagge” Braun for about a million dollars to the USA and then benched another strong player, jungler Erberk “Gilius” Demir.

The last game against Fnatic was also a loss. The game lasted half an hour and Schalke had no chance against Fnatic’s gold advantage.
