According to Riot Games, the sale of a VCT-themed skin pack has generated nearly $10 million for VCT partner teams.

Last month, before the VCT LOCK/IN event, Riot Games unveiled the VCT LOCK/IN capsule. The capsule, released in a limited edition between February 8 and March 7, is comparable to the exclusive VCT Champions packs. Half of the proceeds from the package sale will go to VCT partner teams, and the items will not be returned to the store or Night Market.

The capsule included VCT-themed images and animations from the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific partner teams. These teams participated in the LOCK/IN competition in São Paulo.

According to the official VALORANT esports Twitter account, package sales have already generated more than $10 million for the teams alone.

What is part of the LOCK/IN capsule?

The exclusive limited edition package includes a melee weapon, game spray, and player cards.

The Misericórdia knife, a melee weapon with four different styles that allows you to show pride in your home region, is the centerpiece of the package. The versions are:

  • Red: VALORANT Champions Tour
  • Blue: VCT Pacific
  • Green: VCT Americas
  • Purple: VCT EMEA

Along with the knife, the pack includes three exclusive player cards, one for each league officially linked to the VCT: Americas, Europe, and Pacific. The VAMOS! Spray, which pays homage to Brazil, the nation where the event was held, is the final item in the capsule.

Champions capsule revenue compared to the LOCK/IN capsule

Among all the VALORANT exclusive packs released to date, this one seems to have one of the highest revenues. According to Riot, the initial Champions capsule, released in 2021, grossed an incredible $18.72 million. The 2022 Champions capsule has yet to reach its revenue total, but as of September 17, it has surpassed $16 million.

The LOCK/IN capsule has raised $10 million for the league’s clubs alone, according to esports Twitter VALORANT, meaning net proceeds exceed $20 million. This is separate from the prize money at VCT LOCK/IN.

VCT LOCK/IN prize pool

The 30 VCT-sponsored teams competed in the event to win a share of the $500.000 prize pool. Fnatic finally took first place and earned an additional regional berth for the upcoming VCT Masters. The next competition takes place in Japan in June.

Second most watched VALORANT event in history

Esports Charts said the tournament ended on March 4 with just over 100 hours of airtime. It garnered nearly 1.43 million peak viewers and an average of 432.000 viewers, making it the second most-watched VALORANT event in history.

The season-opening competition and VALORANT Champions 2022, the most-watched VALORANT event in history, were separated by just 60.000 viewers.
