PGL Wallachia Season 1 is about to enter the playoffs stage. Just one more day remains for the group stage to finalize and we already have five of the winners. Three more will be determined later today.

Here’s what happened in the fourth round of matches.

Round 4 Results

A total of six matches were played in the fourth round of the tournament. Three teams were eliminated. Three more advanced. We’re left with just six of the 16 teams in the group stage. The last three matches will decide who else will compete in the playoffs of PGL Wallachia S1.

Unfortunately for Fly, nouns was among the eliminated teams. Despite the good start, the NA squad lost three consecutive matches and will need to rethink their strategy for the next events. This team has a great captain but it lacks pretty much everything else.

Dota 2 is a game in which strategy alone cannot win matches. You need a team of highly capable individuals to implement your plans. Fly doesn’t have any superstars to rely on. When he was part of Shopify Rebellion, he had Arteezy, Cr1t-, and other formidable competitors by his side. Now he’s relying on Yuma and Copy. Most Dota 2 fans haven’t even heard of them.

As a result of winning the match, G2.iG will play against BetBoom Team in the fifth round of the group stage.

Team Liquid defeated and eliminated MOUZ. Nobody was surprised by this. In fact, it’s amazing that Liquid ended up in this situation. They should have qualified already but somehow, Shopify Rebellion managed to beat them in the third round.

Team Secret showed signs of life in their match against Virtus.pro. Puppey is 34 years old and he’s competing with a stand-in, so it’s quite miraculous that he’s still winning matches. In this particular one, he had to win a nearly 90-minute game to close the series. The score was 2 – 1 and IceFrog is probably taking note of all these long games that we’ve seen recently.

When you regularly have 70-minute games, it’s not good for tournaments because the organizers can no longer plan ahead and be confident in their promised schedule.

In the 2 W – 1 L bracket, Aurora defeated Shopify Rebellion 2 – 0 and advanced to the playoffs using a combination of late-game carry heroes, like Morphling and Terrorblade, and early game annoying heroes, like Hoodwink, Nature’s Prophet, and Centaur.

Gaimin Gladiators also won their match but they lost game 1 against BOOM Esports, which is not a good sign. A team of their caliber should be a lot more consistent against opponents of lower strength.

Team Spirit won the last match of the day against BetBoom, finally proving that they’re back to their usual strength. The heroes they used showcased their great versatility.
