Moist Esports has officially entered the professional VALORANT scene with the acquisition of BreakThru, the hottest free-agent team in the NA Challengers League.

Popular streamer Ludwig Ahgren, who joined Moist Esports as a co-owner in January, has acquired NA Challenger team BreakThru in a whopping  US$500,000 deal. As Moist Esports officially enters the professional VALORANT scene with BreakThru, Ludwig, who had expressed his desire to own a Valorant team multiple times, is happy to realize a long-held desire.

He had already shown his love for the game by organizing the Valorant LAN tournament “Ludwig x Tarik Invitational” in Los Angeles during the offseason. Soon after signing the team, Ludwig quickly challenged Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang’s team, Disguised, to a show battle in which the losing owner would have to shave his head.

Both Moist Moguls and Team DSG are participating in the tier-2 Valorant event Valorant Challengers NA Split 1, which gives a chance for succession to the international Valorant league. The Guard, G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, and TSM are also among the popular Valorant teams that are competing at the event.

Moist officially enter the foray of Valorant Esports

With the addition of the NA Challengers team, Moist Esports now fields active rosters in five esports titles, including Apex Legends, Rocket League, Guilty Gear Strive, Super Smash Bros., and VALORANT.

BreakThru, which is composed of former members of well-known teams including FaZe, TSM Academy, and Ghost Gaming, was the most promising team in the NA Challenger. The team only lost two maps throughout their extraordinary run through the Open Qualifiers of the North American VALORANT Challengers League (NA VCL).

The team has played two games in the NA VCL, winning one and losing the other. They are, however, near the bottom of the leaderboard because of the round differential. Moist has also acquired the 25-year-old British coach Tanishq “Tanizhq”, who will be in charge of the coaching duties of the Challengers team.

In the past, he has coached several other esports teams including, Team Gigantti, NRG Esports, Team Holland, and Kungarna. The team is grouped with Shopify Rebellion, FaZe, Clan, Oxygen Esports, and G2 in Group A of the NA VCL Split 1. The new team, which will play under the name “Moist Moguls,” will make their official debut for the organization on February 27 against Turtle Troop.
