NiP and FaZe give us a 53-round match in CS Asia Championship 2023

The CS Asia Championship 2023 is in full swing, and we enjoyed the actions of Group A yesterday, November 8. At the time of writing this article, the final matches of Group B are being played.

However, this does not detract from the fact that we have witnessed spectacular, intense, and, above all, very exciting matches. In the match between FaZe Clan and NiP, everything pointed to a spectacular and very close match. In addition, the clear favorites to win were the guys from FaZe Clan, as they are currently one of the best in the world.

Likewise, nobody imagined that this match would be so evenly matched that up to 53 rounds had to be played to define the winner. Even though FaZe Clan won (28-25), this was the longest official CS2 game. Moreover, it is another milestone FaZe Clan reached, this time with NiP at the beginning of the CS2 era.

Let’s see what happened in this great match between NiP and FaZe Clan in Group B of the CS Asia Championship 2023.

FaZe Clan beats NiP by 28-25

As we mentioned, this match looked like it would be very close, but no one imagined it would be THAT close. It took 53 rounds to define FaZe Clan’s 28-25 victory over NiP. Helvijs “broky” Saukants (FaZe) and Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke (NiP) gave them all for their teams to take the win in this match. However, the Latvian emerged victorious along with FaZe Clan.

Remember that the first match of this Group Stage is played best of one (BO1), and the map played was Ancient.

It all started with NiP deploying a good defense to take a 7-5 partial victory in the first half. However, FaZe Clan did not stay with their arms crossed, and, after being 5-11 behind on the scoreboard, they managed to win 7 of the next 8 rounds to place the score 12-12 and send the map to Overtime.

This is when the good stuff starts, as it took up to 5 Overtime for FaZe to take the victory. k0nfig on one side and broky on the other gave us a truly incredible show, and, in the blink of an eye, the match was evened 24-24; in terms of rounds, it was as if two games had been played in one.

Finally, in the fifth Overtime of the match, FaZe Clan started very well by winning 2 rounds on their CT Side to get 26-25 on the scoreboard. Then, at the change of sides, FaZe’s offense displayed its best level and potential to win the first two rounds to seal the victory in a complicated match with a score of 28-25.
