The playoffs stage of ESL Pro League S19 is about to begin. In the Round of 16, four matches will be played and every one of them will decide who moves on and who gets eliminated. Unlike the group stage, which used the triple-elimination format, the playoffs stage uses the single-elimination one.
Here is a brief analysis of each of the four matches.
BIG vs. G2 Esports
G2 will have a tough match against BIG. The German squad played well in the groups stage and despite finishing 3rd in group D, they defeated HEROIC and they also won a map against Natus Vincere. These results clearly suggest that they’re in great shape.
For G2, the group stage was tough. They first lost against The MongolZ and then they lost again against M80. The teams they defeated were TYLOO, Team Falcons, and M80. Each time, they struggled a lot more than was expected. Because of this, G2’s victory against BIG is not guaranteed.
GamerLegion vs. Virtus.pro
GamerLegion eliminated ENCE in the group stage by defeating them twice. They also came close to winning a map against MOUZ and forced overtime. These results clearly indicate that GL are very strong at the moment.
VP lost against Fnatic and FaZe Clan in the group stage. But they took revenge against the first team in the lower bracket semifinal. In their five group stage matches, VP played against SAW twice and Fnatic twice. Both of their matches against SAW ended with a close victory.

BetBoom Team vs. FlyQuest
BetBoom defeated M80, Team Falcons, and M80 again. They seem to be in great shape at the moment, which should worry FlyQuest. The Australians lost against Natus Vincere and HEROIC in the group stage. They defeated BOSS, Pera Esports, and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Both teams are decent but BetBoom is definitely the favorite because it has world-class players and comes from a country that takes CS2 very seriously.
FaZe Clan vs. Monte
FaZe Clan should not have been in this position. But they are here because they had to play against Astralis in the upper bracket semifinals, and Astralis proved to be a formidable opponent. In their other three matches, FaZe won. Their opponents were Imperial Esports, Virtus.pro, and Eternal Fire.
Monte qualified for the playoffs by defeating FORZE Esports twice and FURIA Esports once. They lost against Liquid and ENCE. Their chances in this match are close to zero.
