Electronic Arts shuts down Apex Legends Mobile

Electronic Arts (EA) recently revealed that Apex Legends Mobile would no longer be playable, which was surprising. However, players can enjoy the game until 4:00 pm PDT on May 1, 2023, when it will no longer be playable.

EA has also stated that in-game transactions in all zones are prohibited as of yesterday, January 31, 2023. Therefore, players will no longer be able to purchase in-game items.

Closure of Apex Legends Mobile

On its social media accounts, Respawn Entertainment posted the following regarding the closure of Apex Legends Mobile.

“We have made the painful decision to sunset Apex Legends Mobile. Unfortunately, this decision does not come with ease. Factors beyond our control have prevented us from maintaining the high-quality experience and content that our players deserve.”

On the other hand, the developer’s comments

“As a result, the game will sunset on May 1, 2023, at 4 pm PDT, after which it will no longer be playable. Our gratitude to our players and teams for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

EA will not refund in-game purchases

Electronic Arts have stated on its blog that by EA’s user terms and conditions, no refunds will be issued for in-game purchases. However, you have until 4:00 pm PDT on May 1, 2023, to use your remaining virtual currency balance (Syndicate Gold). After that date, the servers will stop functioning.

Apex Legends Mobile

On May 17, 2022, EA launched Apex Legends on mobile devices. Over the past eight months, it has introduced a lot of new content to the game, such as new characters, weapons, and game modes.

Apex Legends Mobile won the iOS and Google Play Store Game of the Year 2022 awards. But, unfortunately, the user base and revenue of the game have not been so strong; we can say it has not reached the expected success, so it has led the publisher to decide to close the game.

On the other hand, the development of Battlefield Mobile has been shelved, and Industrial Toys, the company behind the game, is closing its doors. The open beta test of the battle royale game started in some Southeast Asian countries in November 2022. Unfortunately, on January 31, 2023, EA also stopped its development.
