It looks like there’s going to be a welcome change to Modern Warfare 2. The developers want to make a big update to the ranked map rotation and the community has taken it very well.
The latest Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play update brought some fixes and also added the game’s latest map to the competitive lineup. The ranked play was a huge success for the developers of Modern Warfare 2. The mode was well received in almost all areas, only concerns about cheaters and the limited map pool dampened the enjoyment a bit.
Tested new map Himmelmatt Expo in ranked mode
When the new map Himmelmatt Expo was released in Season 2, many players requested that it should replace some of the weaker map and mode combinations. Treyarch has listened to fans’ requests and is testing the map in ranked mode. They hope the feedback here will shed some light on whether the map can work in the official Call of Duty League rulebook as well.
Added Himmelmatt Expo to Ranked Play, with both Search & Destroy and Control being tested for now. Both pros and fans have been hoping for a replacement for Al Bagra Control, and while the Call of Duty League is yet to pull the trigger to replace it, this represents the first real opportunity for change – and that change has largely been received positively.
We've seen a lot of buzz about adding Himmelmatt Expo to the competitive map pool. So how about we give it a spin in Ranked Play? Control and Search & Destroy sound good? Your feedback and data will help @CODLeague and our teams decide if it is added to the official pool! pic.twitter.com/XNADwgHXTZ

Community reacts positively to changes in Modern Warfare 2
The developers tweeted:
“We have given a lot of thought to adding the Himmelmatt Expo to the pool of maps for the professional competition. So how about we try them out in ranked play? Does Control and Search & Destroy sound good?”
This decision was immediately praised by many players and the community, as many people had longed for this change anyway. Changes are often welcome because they bring a little fresh air into the games and provide more excitement again. Noted Call of Duty World League commentator and streaming star, CouRage, was one of the first to acknowledge the studio’s efforts to reinvigorate things and praise the developers. “This is so fantastic. Well done,” he wrote to Treyarch.
Great addition I’m looking forward to play this!
Any news on a hot fix coming? Last night on Ranked was beyond unplayable…constant lag spikes every few steps I took and the black respawn screens running our entire match resulting in an unfair loss of SR.
