The second day of matches at the BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 left us with an excellent 2-0 victory for Cloud9 against Movistar Riders. As a result, Cloud9 advances to the tournament’s semifinals, while Movistar Riders will have to prepare for the last two and a half months of this season.

Cloud9 has not been up to the task since assembling one of the most solid and, above all, dangerous squads around. However, we are all waiting for that moment when the stars align and we start to enjoy the individual talents of each of these players.

On the other hand, this is the second time Movistar Riders has lost to a Tier 1 team in recent weeks by a score of 2-0. Remember that although they qualified for the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs, ENCE annihilated them in the tournament’s next phase in Malta. Now, the team had a lot of trouble facing Cloud9 and is the third eliminated team in the region.

Let’s see what happened in this series between Cloud9 and Movistar Riders.

Cloud9 apply a clean sweep against Movistar Riders

While it is true that Cloud9 started as favorites to win this series, we all expected more resistance from the Spaniards. However, Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov, Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, and Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy were at their best and led Cloud9 to a resounding 2-0 victory.

The series was played at Ancient and Inferno.

Ancient

It all started at Ancient, the map pick of Movistar Riders, where we had a bit intense match in the first half but were more relaxed in the second half. However, Cloud9 was always ahead on the scoreboard and took the victory.

In the first half, Cloud9’s CT Side was a little weak, as the Spanish team’s offense was aggressive. Especially thanks to Alejandro “mopoz” Fernandez-Quejo Cano. Similarly, Team Liquid took the partial victory with a tight score of 8-7.

However, things changed completely with the change of sides. Abay “HObbit” Khassenov and sh1ro were in charge of crushing the Spanish defense to lead Cloud to an excellent 16-11 victory.

Inferno

Next, we moved to Inferno, Cloud9’s map pick, where the international squad displayed their full potential and high level of play to take a resounding 16-7 victory.

In the first half, Cloud9’s offense, led again by sh1ro, was responsible for eradicating the defensive approach of Movistar Riders. As a result, C9 started the map with a partial victory by 11-4.

Finally, at the change of sides, the Riders tried to wake up to return to the scoreboard. However, they fell very short. As a result, C9 took an excellent 16-7 victory to eliminate the Spaniards from the tournament.
