The Brazilian CS:GO powerhouse MIBR has acquired the former FURIA duo of Rafael “saffee” Costa and André “drop” Abreu to complete its roster ahead of the fall season.

While many teams are still actively sorting out their rosters amid the frenzied transfer season, MIBR has locked in their roster with the signing of Rafael “saffee” Costa and André “drop” Abreu. The former FURIA pair will take the place of Henrique “HEN1” Teles and Matheus “Tuurtle” Anhaia, who were both moved to the inactive roster after the team’s failure to achieve success on the international stage.

The team didn’t fare well in any international events, failing to advance past the first round of either the IEM Katowice Play-In or the ESL Pro League or earn a spot in the BLAST Paris Major, which forced the Brazilian organization to make some crucial changes. Drop joins MIBR after an underwhelming performance in 2023, achieving the lowest average rating of the team at 0.89.

Although he initially joined the Brazilian team as an explosive prospect, the 19-year-old proved to be one of their weak links. With a 1.03 rating, Saffee outperformed his fellow teammate, but his performance fell short of what would be expected from a top-tier player of his ability.

The team never took home a trophy while competing under the FURIA banner, but they did have several respectable finishes, most notably the semi-final place in the 2022 IEM Rio Major. And following some disappointing group stage exits, most recently at the BLAST.tv Paris Major and IEM Dallas, FURIA made the decision to make big changes before moving on to the new season.

The duo quickly found a new home, though, as they will now be making their debut on August 14th at Gamers8 2023 as part of the new MIBR team. On the other hand, FURIA is working hard to complete the signing of FalleN in time for the fall season, which starts on 25 July with the IEM Cologne. To fill in the spot left after Drop’s departure, FURIA is reportedly planning to recall Fernando “fer” Alvarenga from his retirement. At this time, it is unclear whether the parties have come to a transfer agreement.

  •  Breno “brnz4n” Poletto
  •  Felipe “insani” Yuji
  •  Rafael “saffee” Costa
  •  André “drop” Abreu

  •  Yuri “yuurih” Santos
  •  Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo
