Dota 2 patch 7.35c introduced a lot of small item changes to the game. In this guide, I will explore those changes and analyze their implications.

Here’s what IceFrog changed about the standard Dota 2 items.
Helm of Iron Will
This item now offers just 4 armor instead of 5. This is a 20% nerf on a rather expensive item. However, most players do not buy it as a standalone item. They buy it because they want to build an Armlet of Mordiggian or some other, more powerful item, such as Nullifier or Crimson Guard.
Overall, this is a small nerf that shouldn’t deter people from using their typical item builds. But you should still be aware of the 6% effective HP lost because of it and refrain from diving towers too early if your hero doesn’t have enough HP to sustain tower shots.
Orb of Venom
The cost of this item was reduced from 275 to 250. This makes it just a bit more affordable as a starting item, which probably means that a lot more melee carry heroes will buy it.
Talisman of Evasion
The item now gives +20% evasion instead of +15%. This is a huge buff that makes evasion far more potent. Combined with other evasion-giving items, including lots of neutral items, this change could easily spark a trend. If you get to around 40% evasion, that’s a massive boost to your survivability, especially if you have good armor and base HP.
Voodoo Mask
This item now gives +12% / 2.4% spell lifesteal against heroes / creeps. That’s a 20% buff. But the problem is that Voodoo Mask can only be used to build Bloodstone and Dagon, two items that are not very popular.
Black King Bar
The magic resistance provided by its active went from 50% to 60%, which is a 20% buff. People were buying BKBs before and they would have continued to do it regardless of this change.

Bloodstone
Its recipe was changed. The item now provides +3 mana regen and requires a Void Stone instead of a recipe. This major buff might make some players consider it more often, especially when playing heroes like Storm Spirit.
Bloodthorn
The item costs 200 gold less than before but its Sould Rend extra damage was reduced by 10.
Dagon
Dagon’s spell lifesteal bonus is now 15% at all levels instead of 11% – 15%. The cooldown of its Energy Burst is now 27s – 15s instead of 35 – 15s. This is a huge buff for anyone who’s interested in buying a casual level 1 Dagon.
Diffusal Blade
Its active, Inhibit, now costs 25 mana. This is a minor nerf that will not be felt by most Dota 2 heroes.
Disperser
This item received huge nerfs that will make it unappealing to most players. Its total cost was increased by 400 gold, Suppress is no longer cast in an AoE. Instead, it affects one ally or one enemy. The only good part is that you get the slow immunity if you cast it on an ally.
Eternal Shroud
The item now gives just 250 bonus HP instead of 300. This is a small nerf but it’s still significant. Overall, the item gives you 530 HP, +25% magic resistance plus up to 6 additional stacks of 4% magic resistance. Each stack lasts for 6s. On the other hand, this item costs 3600 gold, which is not cheap.
Gleipnir
The cost of the item was reduced by 200 gold. This is not a major change considering that players usually buy Gleipnir after the 25-minute mark. But it’s still buff.
Heart of Tarrasque
This item now gives +40 strength instead of +35. It essentially went back to one of its previous states after it was nerfed a little bit too much to appeal to Dota 2 players.
Heaven’s Halberd
For a strength-based hero, this item is fantastic right now. It costs just 3500 gold and gives you all kinds of interesting stats. Its evasion is now +25% and its HP regen and lifesteal amplification are also 25% instead of 20%. Add to that the +20 strength, the +16% status resistance, and the Disarm, which can be used every 18s, and you have an amazing tool.
Helm of the Overlord
Its cost was decreased by 475 gold, which might make heroes like Lycan and Beastmaster a lot more viable.
Kaya
Kaya’s cost was decreased by 50 gold. Its spell lifesteal amplification is now just 20% instead of 24%, but its spell amplification is 10% instead of 8%. Overall, this is a better item than before and every intelligence-based hero should consider buying it, especially if they rely heavily on spells to get the job done.
Kaya and Sange
The item now costs 4000 gold instead of 4100. The status resistance it provides has been increased by 5%. The spell lifesteal amp has been decreased by 5%. The HP regen and lifesteal amp have been increased by 3%.
Khanda
This blade received a powerful buff. The base damage of Empower Spell is now 150 instead of 100.
Mage Slayer
As we expected, Mage Slayer’s cost was increased. The amount chosen by IceFrog was 200. The bigger nerf is the magic resistance, which is now just 20% instead of 25%. The debuff applied by the item now deals 25 damage per second instead of 20 but it only lasts for 3s instead of 6s. Overall, Mage Slayer is now a much weaker item than before.
Meteor Hammer
Its cost was decreased by 250 gold, which is a lot considering the fact that it is bought early.

Monkey King Bar
This item also costs 200 gold less, but because its price is still 4700, players won’t feel the buff as much.
Nullifier
Its projectile now travels at a speed of 1800, which guarantees that it will hit if the distance is less than 1000 and the opponent doesn’t have inhuman reactions. Before Dota 2 patch 7.35c, it was just 1100.
Orchid Malevolence
The cost of the item was decreased by 200 gold, making it very affordable at 3275 gold.
Parasma
Its cost was artificially increased by 400 gold and its intelligence bonus is now just 40 instead of 45. This makes it significantly less appealing than before.
Radiance
Its evasion bonus is now 20%, making it extremely potent when you also consider its active ability.
Revenant’s Brooch
The cost of Phantom Province is now just 50 instead of 75. This ability no longer consumes mana for ability-based attacks.
Shiva’s Guard
IceFrog nerfed this item again, lowering its bonus armor to 15, its attributes to 5, and its HP regen to 5. The cost was increased by 350 gold. All of these nerfs make it very unappealing.
Veil of Discord
The attributes, armor, and HP regen bonuses were all lowered by 1.
Vladmir’s Offering
The item now provides +2 armor and +0.75 mana regen. The bonus mana regen offered by its aura was decreased by 0.75 and the bonus armor was decreased by 2. In essence, the item was made a lot more selfish than before. And frankly, there’s no point in buying it because you have much better alternatives.
Wraith Band
This item was nerfed in a very unusual way. It now provides 0.25 / 0.50 less armor.

Yasha
It now costs just 2000 gold.
Neutral Items
When it comes to neutral items, Dota 2 patch 7.35c brought around a dozen different changes.
Arcane Ring
It now offers just 6 intelligence instead of 7.
Fairy’s Trinket
Its HP bonus was decreased by 25, which is a lot. It only offered 75.
Occult Bracelet
It now provides just +3 to all attributes instead of +4.
Safety Bubble
Its HP regen was decreased by 3 (from 5!) and the cooldown of Bubble Up was increased from 5s to 8s. The item is practically ruined.
Trusty Shovel
It now provides 90 HP instead of 75.
Bullwhip
It now gives 2.75 HP regen instead of 3 and 2 mana regen instead of 2.5. However, it was buffed in a major way. When you cast Whip, your movement is no longer interrupted.
Specialist’s Array
It now gives just +6 to all attributes instead of +7.
Craggy Coat
It now provides 8 armor instead of 6. This is a major buff.
Giant’s Ring
Its strength bonus was decreased by 5 and its movement speed bonus was also decreased by 5. However, given that this is a late-game item that already provides substantial bonuses, these nerfs are relatively small.
Magic Lamp
It now gives +500 HP instead of +300. And the Rejuvenate Heal is now 1250 instead of 1000. In effect, this is now a very powerful late-game item for tanks or heroes that need extra survivability.
Unwavering Condition
The max HP of Unwavering is now 1800 instead of 1500.
Conclusion
With all of these changes, it’s no wonder that Dota 2 patch 7.35c has changed the meta. From timings to hero builds, players are currently adapting to adapt to a dancing landscape.
If you check the new statistics on Dotabuff, you will notice that a lot of heroes lost at least a few points in their overall win percentage. While others, previously thought dead, are making a comeback.
