Liiv SANDBOX signs the first LCK CL female player

Last December 29, 2022, the Korean organization Liiv SANDBOX made history by announcing the signing of Jeon “DangMoo” Su-jin to its LSB Challengers team, which plays in the LCK CL. Keep in mind the fact that this is the “second division” in South Korea.

But history is written by the fact that DangMoo is the first female player to sign with a team for the professional league in the Korean region.

In Liiv SANDBOX’s second division team, DangMoo will have to compete with Hong “PlanB” Su-jin for the team’s starting support position. PlanB also joined the team in December.

DangMoo is a content creator with a very famous YouTube channel, where she shares with almost 250,000 followers a lot of content, mainly about League of Legends.

She is well known in her country on the Twitch streaming platform, as she has more than 185,000 followers.

In the video published by the organization detailing the process they followed to incorporate DangMoo into the team, there are many things that we do not fully understand.

This is because it is entirely in Korean and has no English subtitles. But we highlight that the team’s coaching staff mentions that the player has great communication, excellent game mechanics, and good decision making.

On this news, DangMoo said:

“It’s a tough opportunity, so I will try to show a good performance.”

In recent years, esports has seen the growth of the female player community in the competitive scene. Similarly, it is worth noting that in most cases, they have women’s leagues, such as VALORANT’s Game Changers and CS:GO’s ESL Impact.

So, the inclusion of a female player in a purely male league makes the signing of DangMoo much more historic.
