One of the champion players of Tundra Esports’ The International 11, Neta “33” Shapira, revealed that he might not attend the Bali Major in case his team qualifies for the tournament.

According to different reports, the Israeli player might not travel to Indonesia because of visa issues. Due to current geopolitical issues, Israel is recognized as a sovereign country in Indonesia. As a result, the player would be able to attend the tournament only with some exceptions from the host country and be granted a visa to play the tournament.

Tundra Esports continue at its highest level

The reigning TI11 champions, Tundra Esports, continue to demonstrate their extraordinary level in this 2023 DPC season. In addition, at the start of the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division I, the team had spectacular performances with victories over OG, D1 Hustlers, and Entity. As a result, Tundra is one of the main favorites to win this tournament.

Now, if the team continues at this high level and keeps winning matches day after day, it is very likely that they will earn enough DPC Points to qualify for the Bali Major. However, the tough road begins now for Tundra, as they will now have to face two great teams such as Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid. Nevertheless, if the team achieves victories in these matches, they will most likely be at the top of the podium at the end of the tournament.

In an interview after Tundra Esports’ 2-0 win over D1 Hustlers, 33 gave some extremely unexpected statements by everyone in the community regarding the team’s participation in the upcoming Major.

The interviewers asked how the team’s preparation for the Bali Major would be. 33 said the team would surely do a boot camp before the Major. However, the player then pointed out that, even if Tundra qualifies for the Major, he will probably not be able to participate with the team, so they would have to play this boot camp with an alternate.

In the last hours, Tundra Esports’ official Twitter account referred to an update on 33’s situation, where they alleged:

“33 visage is cooking.”

All indications are that the visa process is on track for 33.

Indonesia does not recognize Israel as a sovereign country

While many may wonder about the main reason for these statements, we must remember that, in Indonesia, Israel is not recognized as a sovereign country. As a result, the only way that 33 can participate in the Bali Major (if Tundra qualifies) is for the country to make an exception, which is very complicated.

We mention that it is very complicated due to the country’s refusal to host the Israel national team for the 2023 World Beach Games.

While it is true that Israel took the case to court at the IOC and ANOC, the host country did not bend and prevented the Israelis from attending the event.
