It has been revealed this week that the PUBG Mobile Esports Vietnam 2021 will come with a prize pool of $500,000, the equivalent of 11.5 billion Vietnamese dongs. While the vast majority of such potential earnings will be awarded to those in the two PUBG Mobile Pro Leagues (PMPL) seasons, the news will come as welcome news to many competing teams.
The PMPL is the highest level of competition in Vietnam, with those putting in strong performances then advancing to the PMPL SEA Finals. As well as those featuring here, the significant prize pool will also ensure that those competing in campus championships and national tournaments in Vietnam are well looked after, despite no such events having been confirmed as of yet.
Why PUBG Mobile is Growing At a Rapid Rate
Tencent recently unveiled its Esports plans for 2021 on the first day of the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC), which took place in November. As a result, we now know that their Esports events will come with total prize money of $14 million, some three times the amount on offer in 2020.
With Tencent clearly placing a major emphasis upon PUBG Mobile, as they look to turn it into a global mobile Esports game, a host of new PMPL and Club Open (PMCO) events have been announced. PMPL’s will now take place in CIS, Turkey, Arabia, North America, Latin America, Brazil and Western Europe, demonstrating the game’s significant growth.
What We Can Expect from PUBG Mobile in 2021
The world champions will be declared at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC), with it having been announced that this will be the final event of the year. This comes off the back of the news that the PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) would not be concluded in 2021, with invitational tournaments being held instead.
PUBG Mobile is currently wrapping up its third year, with many gamers eagerly anticipating the launch of season 17. The new theme is expected to offer winter and space-themed rewards, including Kar98k, Dacia, and helmet and backpack exclusive skins. The current season will run until January 17, with the new season expected to launch shortly after.
