In the last few hours, the Dota 2 community learned some news that undoubtedly left them surprised. LGD Gaming announced that its partnership with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), France’s most popular soccer club, has ended.

Moreover, this is unexpected news for everyone, considering that the start of The International 2023 in Seattle is just over a month away.

This is a partnership that had several years in the competitive scene of Dota 2 and that, without a doubt, was full of successes thanks to the high level of the team. However, all good things end, and this time, we have that LGD will play under its former name, LGD Gaming.

LGD announce the end of its partnership with PSG

Through a post on their official Weibo and Twitter accounts, LGD Gaming announced that, after five years, their partnership with PSG has ended. In addition, they also announced that the team will play in The International 2023 under the name LGD Gaming. On the other hand, there is still no statement regarding the reasons for this decision.

As mentioned, this LGD partnership with PSG originated 5 years ago, specifically in April 2018. Since then, the team has played under the name PSG.LGD managed to be among the best Dota 2 teams in the world. In addition, the squad also managed to take second place in TI 2018 and 2021, as well as third place in the 2019 edition. On the other hand, PSG.LGD also lifted the champions trophy of the Riyadh Masters 2022 and the WePlay AniMajor.

The organization’s official statement on Weibo highlighted that:

“In five years, the name PSG.LGD left a mark on the history of Dota 2. We have won championships together but also experienced the heartbreak of staying so close. Today, our partnership with Paris Saint-Germain comes to an end.”

About PSG Esports

With the departure of the Dota 2 scene, PSG currently remains in the esports of Rocket League, League of Legends, FIFA, Arena of Valor, and Brawl Stars. However, these lineups are part of some partnership, just as they had in Dota 2 with LGD Gaming.

Recall that PSG announced their Rocket League lineup in partnership with Tundra Esports, and, in addition, they also extended their partnership with Talon Esports on their LoL team until 2026.
