The playoffs of LCS Spring 2023 are about to begin and the top six teams in North America will compete for the trophy. Thanks to a series of very impressive victories, 100 Thieves have secured a ticket for this split’s playoffs and they even managed to get an upper bracket spot.

Other teams, such as Cloud9 and FlyQuest, qualified with ease and heavily dominated the group stage. But that doesn’t mean that they are guaranteed a place in the Grand Final. The competitive format of the playoffs stage gives upper bracket teams the chance to finish in the top three if they win their first match.

However, that match is really tough to win and the format is best-of-five.

LCS Spring playoffs participants

The six teams that take part in this split’s playoffs in the LCS are listed below:

  • Cloud9
  • Counter Logic Gaming
  • FlyQuest
  • 100 Thieves
  • Golden Guardians
  • Evil Geniuses

The biggest favorites on this list are Cloud9 and FlyQuest, but 100 Thieves could produce an upset. They’ve had a phenomenal run in the last several weeks and their current form is excellent.

It took a long time for them to develop an effective play style but now that they have it, few opponents can realistically beat them in a best-of-five. The biggest strength of 100 Thieves is the two superstars on the roster: Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg.

Both of them won multiple splits with their respective teams and decided to return to playing professional League of Legends after a long break. From what we can see, they certainly still know how to do it.

100 Thieves ended the group stage with a record of 10 W – 8 L. After that, they went on to compete in a tiebreaker, which they ended up winning. Now that they’re in the upper bracket and have reached their true form, the numerous failures registered during the Spring split are no longer relevant.

This team is here to win and will need to win some really tough matches to claim the trophy. In their first match, they will play against FlyQuest, who are the second-best team in the league.

Like Cloud9, FlyQuest finished the group stage with a record of 14 W – 4 L. The tiebreaker for first place was won by Cloud9.

In the lower bracket, Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses are waiting for their opponents. One of them will likely be Counter Logic Gaming, but the second one might not be 100 Thieves but FlyQuest.
