KRÜ falls in their debut at VCT Champions 2023

VALORANT Champions 2023 is in full swing, and all the teams have already played their first matches in the Group Stage, so we can already see the first sign of quality.

One of the teams that undoubtedly earned their qualification for this end-of-season tournament, KRÜ Esports, failed in their tournament debut. As a result, the South American squad will have to play for their lives in the Elimination Match to keep their hopes of advancing to the playoffs alive.

Paper Rex annihilate KRÜ to send them to Elimination Match

There is no doubt that the debut of KRÜ Esports in this VALORANT Champions 2023 was complicated since they would face nothing more and nothing less than Paper Rex, the best team in the Pacific region of VALORANT. KRÜ comes from qualifying through the VCT 2023 LCQ Americas, so they came with a lot of confidence and encouragement to face the match. However, Paper Rex crushed them throughout and ended up losing 0-2.

It all started in Split, the map pick of KRÜ Esports, where we had a very balanced match in the first half since, after the first seven rounds, the South American squad was ahead on the scoreboard by 4-3. However, Paper Rex’s offense woke up in great shape to win five consecutive rounds and thus take a partial victory by 8-4. Then, at the change of sides, KRÜ started very well again by winning the first two rounds, but this was not enough to prevent the Pacific champions from taking the 13-7 victory.

Pearl

The teams then moved on to Pearl, Paper Rex’s map pick, where we had an extremely exciting game with PRX displaying spectacular offense in the first half. As a result, the team took a partial victory (for the second map in a row) with a score of 8-4. At the change of sides, KRÜ got closer on the scoreboard by 8-11, which worried PRX a bit. However, Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart took it upon himself to lead Paper Rex to a comfortable 13-8 victory.

After this result, Paper Rex will play against EDward Gaming to define the first playoff qualifier for Group A, while KRÜ Esports will play against Giants in the Elimination Match.
