Yatoro is widely considered to be the strongest carry player in Dota 2 at the moment. He won two editions of The International in three years, which is remarkable, as well as Riyadh Masters 2023 and many other important events.

At just 20 years old, he is an absolute legend. In fact, he’s probably the most accomplished 20-year-old player in the history of Dota 2. His only rival is Topson, who also won two TIs by the time he was in his early twenties.

Yatoro doesn’t necessarily win because of his settings. But Dota 2 settings certainly are important and can make a significant difference in your win rate. Understanding each setting and using it properly might add that 1% that you need to win some of your games. Gear, such as a good mouse, a good keyboard, and an overall decent computer is also important.

When combined with skill and dedication, these ingredients often result in improved results. In Dota 2, all you need to do to climb the ladder is to win at least 51% of your games. Ideally, you should win 55% of them, which is the equivalent of 11 out of 20. If you can do that, for every 20 games that you play you will gain 50 MMR.

Play 200 games you gain 500 MMR. Play 2000 games and you gain 5000 MMR. Of course, in practice it’s not that easy, and we often go from winning 55% of our games to winning just 40% if the skill level of our opponents is too high relative to our current level of competence. But the point is that you don’t need to be too much above 50% to make good progress.

Yatoro’s Dota 2 settings

You can see Yatoro’s Dota 2 settings by watching this YouTube clip. They’re in Russian, but you can easily compare them to your own and see what each setting represents.

In essence, he’s not doing anything fancy. But he is doing all the right things to optimize his farming speed, his ability to last hit creeps, his ability to control illusions, his ability to keep an eye on the rest of the map, and so on. In each case, his settings are perfectly chosen to maximize ease of use and can serve as an example of how you need to set up your own Dota 2 settings.
