There is no doubt that NICKMERCS is one of the leading exponents in the Apex Legends community, as the reality is that no other content creator supports the community more than he does.

From organizing tournaments casually and competitively to the MFAM Gauntlet circuit played in Apex’s Team Deathmatch mode in the previous season, NICKMERCS is always at the forefront.

In the last few hours, NICKMERCS again demonstrated its imminent support for the Apex Legends community by announcing a new tournament, the Gauntlet League.

NICKMERCS announces $50,000 Gauntlet League

In the past few hours, popular Apex Legends content creator NICKMERCS announced a new Apex tournament called The Gauntlet League. This tournament will have a prize pool to be shared for $50,000, being their biggest tournament organized so far.

This new tournament is in an invitational league format, where players play solo for three weeks. On the other hand, in the Gauntlet League, we will have the participation of the best Apex players in NA battling each other solo from August 7-28, 2023.

In addition, the $50,000 in prizes will be distributed to the best players as NICKMERCS usually does in its tournaments every week. Finally, in the playoffs, those who make it as far as possible in the tournament fight for a share of the remaining $35,000.

Schedule and Format

As mentioned, the Gauntlet League starts next Monday, August 7, 2023, and we will have matches throughout the week (until Friday) in the evenings. In addition, NICKMERCS also assured no restrictions regarding the tournament’s broadcasting.

Now, as for the format, all players will have a base of 1,000 at the start of the tournament. Players can gain or lose points throughout the tournament according to different situations, be it ranking, kills, or inactivity. Then, the top 20 players on the overall points leaderboard during each week will receive a share of $5,000 in prizes. Finally, the top 60 on the leaderboard at the end of the regular season advance to the playoffs, where they will play for a share of the remaining $35,000.

Requirements to play the Gauntlet League

Only NA players can now play in the Gauntlet League, which has a closed invitation format. However, the invitation or eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The player must have experience in the ALGS Pro League
  • Have finished in the TOP 20 of any Challenger circuit
  • Have good statistics in the “Apex Predator” rank during the last three seasons of the game, i.e., 15, 16, and 17.

Similarly, although it will only be played on NA servers, the Gauntlet League may issue invitations to some EMEA players, as NICKMERCS is planning an expansion to European grounds.

There is no doubt that this is an excellent initiative by NICKMERCS to keep the Apex Legends competitive scene alive in NA. Furthermore, if it continues with its current popularity, this type of tournament may become one of the most popular after the ALGS.
