Equinox Esports has announced the signing of Ian “tex” Botsch, with the American having joined the organization on a permanent basis following his spell as a stand-in. The former CS:GO pro filled in during the recent Nerd Street Gamers Winter Championship, while he is now in line to compete at the VALORANT Champions Tour.

Why Equinox Signed tex

The signing of tex means that the Equinox Esports VALORANT roster is now complete, with the organization having previously parted company with Carlo “dcop” Delsol. With tex on board, the team finished in fourth place at the Winter Championship, an event where they recorded wins against both Ghost and Cloud9 Blue. Equinox ultimately came unstuck against Luminosity in the playoffs, having also beaten Built By Gamers to reach the last four.
It was Luminosity who would go on to win the tournament, with Equinox going on to lose their third-place decider against Andbox. Tex was undoubtedly one of the bright sparks for Equinox during the event, having split his outings between Reyna and Raze. In fact, tex finished with the second highest Average Combat Score, while also ending the event in fourth position surrounding Average Damage per round. The impressive stats continue, with the 21-year-old having also tied for second with a clutch percentage of 29. Such stats come from VALORANT platform VLR.gg.

What Equinox Has Said on the Signing

During his time in the North American CS:GO scene, tex competed in both the MDL and Mythic Cup, with his experience within first person shooter titles potentially being a major asset to Equinox. Speaking on the arrival of Botsch, Equinox competitive director, Connor Knudsen, stated that: “He’s a player that already has a massive amount of skill and game sense, much of which is credited to his rich FPS history in CS:GO.”

“But, maybe even more important than that, are his intangibles: He’s a player that communicates effectively, stays positive and has already made a huge impact on our team’s culture in the short time we’ve trialed him. In the end, we think we’ve struck gold with tex.”
