Arc Warden remained untouched in Dota 2 patch 7.35b. The previous patch, 7.35, only modified two of his talents. Both of them were nerfed but not in a major way. Despite these nerfs, Arc Warden continued to gain in popularity and his win rate also climbed to 55%. He is now the second most successful hero in Dota 2.

But how do you play this midlaner in a way that makes opponents rage quit?

The strengths of Arc Warden in Dota 2 patch 7.35b

Arc Warden starts with a healthy HP regen (2.5) and a little bit of mana regen (1.2). He has an excellent HP at level 1 (604) and 363 mana. His attribute increase is phenomenal: 2.6 strength, 3 agility, and 2.6 intelligence, for a total of 8.2 per level. Few heroes are blessed by IceFrog with such numbers in this department.

Everything about Arc Warden, with the exception of his movement speed (285), makes him a great mid hero. He can attack from 625 range, which means he can keep his distance. But he can also come close to the enemy mid and cast powerful spells to force him to get back.

All of his abilities are hard to deal with in lane. Flux deals 15 – 60 damage per second for 6s and can be cast from 500 – 800 range. It also slows movement speed by 14 – 35%. These debuffs apply as long as the target does not have an ally creep nearby, in a 225 radius.

The key when using this ability is to take advantage of the fact that an enemy hero will want to run away from you if the exchange is unfavorable. And when he does, he no longer has allies nearby. So he’s essentially forced to stay near the creeps and fight you or run away and take lots of damage.

If the enemy runs, you attack. If it chooses to fight, you can use Spark Wraith, which deals 100 – 340 damage. Its cooldown is only 4s and the wraith will last for 45s if it’s not triggered. Another ability to use is Magnetic Field.

Against ranged enemies, it is absolutely devastating because it gives you 100% evasion for 3.5 – 6.5s, +40% magic resistance, 20 – 80 attack damage, 150 attack range, and 50 – 80 attack speed. Once you have your ultimate, you can recast it for a total duration of 14.5s.

Arc’s ultimate, Tempest Double, lasts for 18 – 26s and can be cast every 70 – 50s. It is a very powerful ability that will essentially more than double his strength in duels. The double can also take advantage of Hand of Midas, which is why every Arc player will buy the item.
