After dropping their previous roster, Sentinels are planning to start over by signing the Spacestation Gaming lineup for their Apex Legends division.

Sentinels seem to have pounced on the chance to reestablish their name on the global Apex Legends stage with a new roster. Sentinels intend to sign the SSG lineup in order to participate in the Split One Playoffs, according to a report by Esports.gg.

Joseph “Frexs” Sanchez, Angello “Xenial” Cadenas, and Mark “Dropped” Thees, one of the longest-tenured trios in Apex, make up the SSG roster. The trio joined SSG in the summer of 2021 and has since helped the team to many outstanding finishes, including placing sixth overall at the 2022 ALGS Championship.

According to the reports, Dropped might not remain with Sentinels after the Split One Playoffs are through. He will reportedly join Optic Gaming following the LAN in London. This was confirmed when Dropped appeared to compete in third-party tournaments with OpTic Gaming.

If the reports are accurate, SSG’s roster release will make it the fourth North American team to abandon Apex Legends esports, with G2 Esports, Team Liquid, and Cloud9 already departing the scene in recent months.

Sentinels clean the slate before the new beginning

Sentinels released its entire Apex roster on January 24, putting an end to a protracted association with the 23-year-old Canadian player Adam “senoxe” Lau, the former eUnited member Nicholas “Crust” Kell, the American Captain Trenton “lou” Clements, and coach TeQ, who joined them in November 2022.

As Sentinels are moving forward with a fresh line-up, it will likely be difficult for the former roster to find a new team, as many organizations have already finalized rosters for 2023. The former Sentinels, who were once among the most dreadful teams to encounter in North America, appeared to be a shell of their former selves throughout 2022 as they failed to qualify for several ALGS LAN tournaments.

The major setback, though, occurs in 2023, when Sentinels struggled to make an impression in the 2022–2023 ALGS Pro League Split 1, finishing 23rd out of 30 teams. The team were immediately demoted from Pro League and was required to participate in Pro League Qualifier in order to advance to Split 2.

While Sentinels’ performance in 2022 was subpar, they were able to win a few competitions in 2021, including the 2021 UMG Champions Invitational 21 and the Apex Legends Global Series: Split 1 Pro League – North America. Sentinels also did well in other significant competitions of the year, finishing fifth in the 2021 NA Autumn Circuit and sixth in the 2021 NA Championship, respectively.
