Heroic, GamerLegion, and Cloud9 advance to the Quarterfinals of CS:GO Gamers8 2023

The esports festival in Saudi Arabia, the CS:GO Gamers8 2023, is in full swing, and almost all the teams have played their first tournament matches. After the first day, Heroic, GamerLegion, and Cloud9 each got victories to qualify for the Quarterfinals.

On the other hand, Team Falcons, Apeks, and Fnatic are flying back home since, in this Gamers8 2023, the team that loses a match is directly eliminated.

Let’s see what happened in the victories of Heroic, GamerLegion, and Cloud9 at the start of CS:GO Gamers8 2023.

Heroic crushed Team Falcons 2-0

The Danish squad, Heroic, takes a step forward at the start of Gamers8 in their fight to take home the largest portion of the $1,000,000 prize pool. Their first obstacle was Team Falcons, a team that gave them quite a fight, but they still crushed them 2-0.

It all started in Mirage, Team Falcons’ map pick, where we had a really interesting match, as both teams showed great play. Team Falcons surprised everyone in the first half by taking a partial victory by 9-6 on their side T. Then, at the change of sides, Heroic woke up with Rasmus “sjuush” Beck and René “TeSeS” Madsen to equalize the score by 15-15 and send the map to Overtime. Finally, Heroic took the first victory in the series by 22-18.

Then, in the second map, Nuke, we again enjoyed a balanced match, where Heroic started strongly in the first half with a partial victory by 8-7 on their side T. However, at the change of sides, Team Falcons could not in their offense and conceded by 10-16.

GamerLegion and Apeks give us a very intense series

Two of this season’s breakout teams, GamerLegion, and Apeks, gave us an intense series where, despite GamerLegion winning 2-0, it was two really exciting maps.

The series started on Mirage, Apeks’ map pick, where we saw a high level of play from both squads. In the first half, GamerLegion’s offense made its presence felt to take a partial victory by 8-7. Then, at the change of sides, Apeks woke up to hit back perfectly to even the score at 15-15 and send the map to Overtime. Finally, after several rounds in Overtime, GamerLegion managed to take the win by 22-20.

Then, the teams moved to Overpass, GamerLegion’s map pick, where we witnessed an extraordinary comeback by GL. In the first half, Apeks started strong, trying to even the series 1-1, and they ended up with a partial 11-4 win on their CT side. However, at the change of sides, the GamerLegion boys turned the tables, as they won 12 of the 14 rounds contested to seal their 16-13 victory.

Cloud9 apply a clean sweep against Fnatic

One of the most interesting matches of this tournament kickoff left us with Cloud9 applying a clean sweep against Fnatic to qualify for the quarterfinals of Gamers8 2023.

Fnatic had shown great improvement in the last few tournaments played. However, Cloud9’s super lineup showed no mercy and took the 2-0 victory.

It all started in Vertigo, Fnatic’s map pick, where both teams gave us a great match. In the first half, Cloud9 took a partial victory by 9-6 on their T-side, giving them great advantage for changing sides. Then, in the second half, Fnatic woke up in great shape and put Cloud9 in trouble, but it was not enough, and they ended up falling by 14-16.

Then, Anubis, Cloud9 finished sealing their victory in the second map, taking advantage of Fnatic running out of fuel. We still observed a very balanced match in the first half, as Cloud9 took the victory by 9-6. However, at the change of sides, C9’s defense became an insurmountable wall for Fnatic’s guys, and they took a comfortable 16-7 victory.
