Just as expected, the two biggest favorites of the Paris Major won their quarterfinal matches.

Heroic and Team Vitality did not have easy confrontations, but the combined talent of their rosters eventually proved to be much stronger than that of their opponents.

Heroic vs. FaZe Clan: 2-1

Heroic came close to losing against FaZe and would have almost certainly lost the match without the excellent finish on Nuke, which helped them win this map with a score of 16-14.

After this victory, Heroic could afford to lose the second map and that’s exactly what happened. The battle was not easy but after a 5-10 first half, FaZe Clan won 12-16 and sent the match to a third map.

On Mirage, Heroic were simply exceptionally good and won 12 rounds on the CT-side. This pretty much ended Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s dream of winning the last CS:GO Major.

The man of the match was Robin “ropz” Kool, whose performance was amazing: 73-53. By far, the best on the server. Unfortunately for him, his teammates did much worse.

Into The Breach vs. Team Vitality: 0-2

Vitality played just two maps against Into The Breach and had to make a comeback on the first. ITB were leading 9-6 after the first half but Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and his teammates were just too good on the T-side.

Once again, ZywOo showed up in excellent form and proved his formidable talent. The man who won the CS:GO Player of the Year twice and came in second twice finished the match with 46 kills and just 26 deaths. His rating 2.0 was 1.45, enough to bring Vitality a much-needed victory against ITB.

With three players from the UK, ITB played surprisingly well and showed that even a team with no famous players could potentially do well against the world’s best CS:GO competitors.

If Thomas “Thomas” Utting would have played just a bit better, the result may have been different. His 20-43 score was by far the worst on the server but he probably couldn’t handle the pressure as well as the other players. On top of that, he’s the IGL, so it makes sense for him to be less impactful when it comes to raw numbers.

On FaZe Clan, karrigan does the same thing all the time and his team tends to be quite successful.
