While it is true that the esports ecosystem is a bit distant in Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine, this does not mean that local teams do not have opportunities to show their potential in a major tournament.

This time, we have FORZE Esports crowned champion of the Russian Cybersport League 2023 after defeating Websterz 2-0 in the tournament’s Grand Final.

There is no doubt that this is great news for the organization and the team’s fans, as the lineup has three new members, and they managed to dominate the Russian Tier 2 scene. In addition to the championship trophy, FORZE won a cash prize of $30,883.47 or 3,000,000₽ (₽: rubles).

FORZE crowned champions of the Russian Cybersport League 2023

While it is true that this tournament had only four teams, everyone in the CS:GO scene knows what a high level of play there is in Russia. However, it is also worth noting that Websterz, FORZE’s opponent in the Grand Final, is a Belarusian team.

FORZE started their journey in this Russian Cybersport League 2023 against HOTU in the semifinals of the Upper Bracket, where they took a solid 16-5 victory on Ancient and 16-12 on Inferno. Thanks to this victory, the team advanced to the Upper Bracket finals, where they faced Websterz, the Belarusian team that pulled off a very pleasant surprise by taking a 2-1 victory.

As a result of this defeat, FORZE had to play for their lives in the Lower Bracket again against HOTU and, just like in the first match of the first day of the Russian Cybersport League 2023, they managed to take a comfortable 2-0 victory to qualify for the Grand Final of the tournament.

FORZE vs. Websterz – Game Recap

The series between FORZE and Websterz started on Inferno, the Belarusian team’s map pick and we saw how FORZE quickly tried to get ahead on the scoreboard. After the first 15 rounds, FORZE had a 9-6 lead. As the sides changed, Websterz’s defense gradually crumbled, and the Russian squad took advantage of this to take the victory by 16-9.

Then, things changed radically on the second map, Mirage, as Websterz put up much more of a fight in this match. However, FORZE managed to take the victory by 16-11. In the first half, FORZE took a close 8-7 win on their T-side, which is a very good thing on a map like Mirage, where defenders have more of an advantage. Finally, at the change of sides, the Russians implemented a great defense to win the remaining eight rounds to take the victory by 16-11 and proclaim themselves champions of the Russian Cybersport League 2023.
