Gen.G, the South Korean esports powerhouse, adds former Global Esports standout, Kim “t3xture” Na-ra, heralding a new era in their Valorant journey.

Gen.G has made a significant move in their preparations for the upcoming Valorant 2024 season by securing the services of former Global Esports and DWG KIA player Kim “t3xture” Na-ra. The acquisition comes shortly after Gen.G retained their first player, Kim “Meteor” Tae-O, indicating a shift towards building a formidable Korean-majority team.

Gen.G showcased an impressive performance in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 season, with four consecutive wins at the start. However, as they faced stronger opponents, they encountered a five-game losing streak.

Despite these challenges, they secured a coveted playoff spot through a tiebreaker, ultimately finishing in a commendable fourth place, closely trailing Paper Rex, DRX, and T1. Gen.G also participated in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Pacific Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), where they showed remarkable performance but exited the tournament in the Lower Bracket Final, securing the third position.

T3xture’s background and role:

Kim “t3xture” Na-ra began his Valorant journey in 2021 when he joined DWG KIA. He achieved significant success with the team, including top placements in VCT 2021 Korea Stage 1 Challengers 1 and Challengers 3, as well as a second-place finish in VCT 2021 Korea Stage 2 Challengers.

In 2023, t3xture transitioned to Global Esports, where he continued to excel. During his time with Global Esports, t3xture demonstrated remarkable adaptability by consistently delivering stellar individual performances, even while playing as an Initiator, a role different from his primary Duelist position.

However, despite his personal achievements, Global Esports struggled to meet expectations, finishing in eighth place in the VCT Pacific league, 17th-32nd placement in the VCT LOCK//IN event in São Paulo, Brazil, and failing to secure a single series win in the Last Chance Qualifier.

This addition to Gen.G’s Valorant roster raises questions about the role of Meteor, who has been known as the team’s primary Duelist. With both t3xture and Meteor holding similar roles, Gen.G faces the exciting challenge of optimizing their roster for peak performance.

Gen.G returns to a Korean-Majority team:

Gen.G’s recent acquisition of Kim “t3xture” Na-ra reflects their commitment to building a Korean-majority roster for the upcoming season. The organization is undergoing significant restructuring, having released several team members and retaining only Meteor.

While Gen.G faced difficulties in the 2023 season, their dedication to rebuilding their roster and the addition of t3xture bring renewed hope to the organization. As they prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Gen.G to see how they optimize their lineup and compete on the global stage.

Gen.G’s Valorant 2024 Season Roster:

Following the recent announcement, Gen.G’s Valorant 2024 season roster includes the following two Korean players:

  • Kim “Meteor” Tae-O
  • Kim “t3xture” Na-ra
