There is no doubt that when f0rest’s return to the competitive CS:GO scene was announced for IEM Dallas, the expectations of all fans was very high. Not only to see one of the game’s legends back in the scene, but to check his current form.

Let’s remember that Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg had to go on emergency for IEM Dallas 2023 to reinforce Fnatic due to Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson not being able to participate for “personal reasons.”. However, the legend’s momentary return did not go as expected, and he could not shine as he would have wished.

f0rest’s comeback did not go as imagined

All of us CS:GO fans, especially old school ones, were very pleased to see f0rest again competing at the highest level in the CS:GO scene. Moreover, he would do so with one of his first organizations, Fnatic. Unfortunately, however, the legend’s return did not go as expected, and Fnatic was eliminated from the tournament on the first day.

Fnatic was eliminated from the tournament after losing to MOUZ and 9z Team on the first day of IEM Dallas 2023. While f0rest tried his best in every match, there is no doubt that he could easily be one of the tournament’s worst players in average rating. According to HLTV, f0rest had a 0.76 rating and an ADR of 59.5 in IEM Dallas.

That said, it stands to reason that f0rest was the worst Fnatic player in the two matches he played in IEM Dallas, with Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen being the second worst with a Rating of 0.97.

Inactivity took its toll on f0rest

The CS:GO legend was away from the competitive scene for almost a year when Dignitas disbanded the team in June 2022. Since then, f0rest devoted himself entirely to content creation, streaming his games daily on FACEIT alongside other legends such as Adam “friberg” Friberg and, on some occasions, with Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund.

After watching f0rest day in and day out playing CS:GO on FACEIT, many fans started commenting that if any team would give him the opportunity, he would easily be competing at the highest level in the scene.

One user on Reddit said:

“f0rest has always been my favorite player, playstyle, attitude, natural ability. Always said he could be in T1 if he wanted to be, glad to see him on the stage again even if it’s just for one tournament.”

Also, in September 2022, popular streamer Thorin interviewed f0rest about this topic. Even f0rest compared himself to Cristiano Ronaldo and said he could perform despite his age.

While it is completely unfair to bash CS:GO legend f0rest for this terrible performance at IEM Dallas, there is no doubt that if he wants to return to the scene in a Tier 1 team, he will have to prepare much more.
