G2 Esports announces squad for LEC 2024

After shining and completely dominating the LEC scene in 2023, G2 Esports seems ready to come back with everything in 2024 and, of course, to succeed at the international level.

And is that, a few hours ago, G2 Esports announced its League of Legends lineup for next season. While it is true that there are many rumors and reports at this time that have not yet started the offseason of the League, G2 Esports is one of the few teams that will remain intact for next season.

This is great news for team fans, as it is no secret that the season was extremely good. However, the disappointing finish at Worlds 2023 created some doubts in the community about the continuity of some players in the squad.

G2 Esports confirms its roster for the next LEC season

G2 Esports confirmed its lineup for the upcoming LEC season through a somewhat misleading video. As expected, the organization decided to keep all their players, and, no doubt, they will be back with a vengeance after their performances in the international tournaments.

There is no doubt that fans of the team and many in the League of Legends community were surprised and frightened by the title of the video, ” Farewell Caps,” it immediately made us think that Rasmus “Caps” Winther would be leaving the team. However, after more than a minute of talking and doing a sort of recap of the team’s 2023 run, the Dane said that the squad remains intact for 2024.

As we note at the end of the announcement, Caps reveals that he is going home on vacation now that they finished all the LEC Split and Worlds 2023. However, he then says the entire squad will return stronger than ever in 2024.

G2 Esports and its elite status in esports

There is no doubt that G2 Esports is one of the teams that has one of the best reputations at the highest level in the esports scene, and League of Legends is no exception.

At the LEC Season Finals 2023, they demonstrated a solid level of play, and many in EMEA thought that G2 was ready to take on the best teams in the LPL and LCK at Worlds 2023.

However, it all ended in the worst possible way. At Worlds 2023, G2 started on the right foot with important victories against Dplus Kia and Weibo Gaming. But then they lost to Gen.G, the LCK champions, and a surprising NRG, which undoubtedly gave a great performance in this series.

Finally, G2 Esports lost their way completely in the tournament and were annihilated by Bilibili Gaming in the Worlds 2023 playoff qualifier. However, this is not all negative, as the team knows they have the talent and determination to stand up to the best in the world, and there is no doubt that they will arrive in 2024 with the firm conviction to win it all in the League of Legends competitive scene.
