After having a truly spectacular Spring Split in the LCS, FlyQuest took a 180° turn in this Summer Split, but for the worse. After 12 games played in the tournament, the team has a terrible record of 3-10, which places them at the last place in the standings and with very few options to get their ticket to the playoffs.

As a result, the organization decided to promote Djalar “Spirax” Djiar from the Academy team to try to turn their situation around and qualify for the playoffs.

President Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith and GM Nicholas “Swaguhsaurus” Phan announced moves to the team’s roster through a video on the organization’s official Twitter account. Both agree that the team’s performance is well below the expectations raised in the preseason and, therefore, decide to promote Spirax.

As we heard and observed in the video, Swaguhsaurus said that after the team’s terrible results in the first four weeks, they decided to revamp the lineup to bring in “new blood” to turn the team’s situation around. In addition, they indicated that Spirax’s performance in the NACL and in scrims played with the main team helped make this decision.

About Spirax

Spirax has been part of FlyQuest Academy’s starting lineup since late 2021 after being one of the stars of Maryville University in the LoL college league. While it is true that the team did not have the expected success in Proving Grounds 2022, Spirax made all the necessary merits to earn a spot in the Challengers division.

The Canadian is widely known in the Challengers scene for being a very aggressive mid-laner with Azir. In addition to new blood, FlyQuest adds a very versatile and, above all, consistent player to its starting lineup.

We also see that PapySmithy said this is a reward for the great work Spirax has been doing in the academy team. In addition, he also stated that while the team’s results in the LCS are not as expected, this is the “perfect time” to give this Canadian talent a chance.

Spirax becomes the second rookie to receive an opportunity in the LCS in the last few days, as let’s remember that Eain “APA” Stearns received his chance with Team Liquid and has not disappointed. The 21-year-old American has shown a high level of play in his games.

While expectations were high with Spirax’s addition to the FlyQuest starting lineup, things didn’t go as desired in his team debut either. After a fourth week to forget, FlyQuest kicked off week five of the LCS Summer Split 2023 with a loss to NRG. As a result, the team must now play against Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid to continue with the dream of qualifying for the playoffs.
