North American organization FaZe Clan has announced the signing of Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, with the Canadian having been added to its CS:GO starting roster. FaZe has recently added a European CS:GO lineup, as well as teams in the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, FIFA and Rainbow Six Seige scenes. It is CS:GO where the majority of FaZe’s focus lies, despite having not won a major in this area to date.

Twistzz has been a CS:GO professional since back in 2015, having first competed under the banner of Tectonic. Having also represented the likes of SapphireKelownaDotCom, Team AGG, KKona, TeamSoloMid and Misfits, the 21-year-old got his big break upon joining Team Liquid in 2017. It was thanks in part to Twistzz that Liquid became one of the leading names in the North American scene. However, the Covid-19 pandemic hit the scene hard, with many events having been cancelled.

Why the North American CS:GO Scene Has Been Hit Hard

While many players made the switch to VALORANT, including Twistzz’s former teammate Nick “nitr0” Cannella, the Canadian decided to stick around. He now becomes the latest CS:GO player to move to Europe, becoming the first North American to represent FaZe Clan since its launch in 2016. He is also the only active Canadian player to feature on a European roster at present. Twistzz is likely to make his debut at the BLAST Premier Spring Group Stage, where he will come up against hie former team. The event gets underway on February 12.

Team Liquid plugged the gap left by Twistzz by signing Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, who arrived from MiBR. Twistzz himself will be filling the void left by Nikola “NiKo” Kovac, who joined G2 Esports from FaZe Clan at the end of 2020.

What Twistzz Had to Say Upon His Departure from Team Liquid

Speaking on his departure from Team Liquid, Van Dulken posted the following on his Twitter page: “Gg’s and congrats to @AstralisCS, no other team i’d rather play against in a final and especially my last game with @TeamLiquid, the fans and family i’ve made here over the past 3 and a half years. These are some of the most important memories of my career. Thank you all.”
