Problems continue between one of the most popular Chinese esports organizations, EDward Gaming, and one of its former players, Lee “Scout” Ye-chan. According to different reports in the last hours, EDG would have sued Scout due to different contractual disputes in the past.

The truth is that this is a never-ending issue, as it has been talked about since December 2022. However, the situation remains unresolved, so it draws attention whenever some information comes to light.

Reports state that EDG sued Scout due to contractual issues

Different reports published last June 10 in different Chinese forums and later on Twitter and Reddit indicate that EDG would have sued Scout for contractual disputes. Precisely, on Twitter, this news was shared by the verified LPL fan account, LPL Fanclub, which tends to give truthful information regarding the competitive scene in China.

The Tweet, which is entirely in Mandarin, mentions that EDG would be suing Scout for breaching his contract with the team. Recall that this news came to light in December 2022, when there was a lot of noise regarding this issue.

However, neither EDG nor Scout has given statements on the matter, so the exact motives regarding this “contractual dispute” are completely unknown. However, if this news is true, it is more than clear that EDG considers that Scout breached the terms and conditions of his contract when he was the star mid-laner of his team.

Scout and EDG’s contractual problems

While it is true that these are just rumors, at the end of 2022, different reports (also published by LPL fanclub) detailed that Scout signed a contract with an LCK team after the end of Worlds 2021. However, it is worth noting that, at that time, Scout was still part of EDward Gaming’s starting lineup.

After Worlds 2021 ended, other reports claimed that EDG decided to raise its players’ salaries to keep the same lineup for one more season.

However, everything indicates that Scout traveled to South Korea to sign with some LCK team. At the same time, it seems that not everything went as planned for the Chinese player, as none of the LCK teams offered a salary equal to or higher than that of EDG. As a result, Scout returned to China, the LPL, and EDG to play one more season.

Finally, in December 2022, Scout decides to end his career at what was his home for more than six years, EDward Gaming. As a result, he had to find another team in the LPL and currently plays for LNG Esports, which is in fourth place in the LPL Summer Split 2023.
