Some reports in the last hours indicate that Karmine Corp, the new LEC team for 2024, would sign Elias “Upset” Lipp, the former Team Vitality Bot Lane.

This, no doubt, is simply a reaffirmation that KCorp wants to sign the best to have a solid squad and start their time in the LEC in the best possible way. On the other hand, it would be a challenge for Upset, as he comes from playing with two important teams in the LEC, such as Vitality and Fnatic, so the spotlight will undoubtedly be on him.

Let’s remember that KCorp secured its participation in the LEC in 2024 after being allowed to buy the Astralis spot several weeks ago. As a result, we expect this organization’s popularity and large fan base in France to flood the LEC and make it the most popular region in the League of Legends competitive scene.

Reports indicate that Upset is close to signing with Karmine Corp

According to a report by Alejandro “anonimotum” Gomis of Sheep Esports, Upset would have an agreement to join KCorp for the 2024 LEC.

As Gomis mentions, it must be remembered that Caliste “Caliste” Henry-Hennebert, current ADC of KCorp, is 17 years old, and the minimum age to play in the LEC is 18.

On the other hand, we must be clear that before they could buy their place in the LEC, KCorp was France’s most popular esports organization and even the strongest in the LFL. Going back a bit, let’s remember that KCorp dominated the LFL scene by winning the playoffs several times and the EMEA Masters 4 times.

If Upset’s signing is confirmed, it would be the first of this offseason, and undoubtedly, the team would build the squad around him heading into 2024.

About Upset

Upset did not have a dream 2023 season; that is more than clear. First of all, let’s remember that, at the beginning of the year, when he was still playing for Fnatic, he was sent to the team’s bench with the arrival of Martin “Rekkles” Larsson. Finally, in March 2023, he left the black & Orange organization and immediately signed for Team Vitality.

With Team Vitality, we can’t say that Upset has shown its full potential either, as they finished third in the Spring Split and tenth in the Summer Split 2023. As a result, the team could not qualify for Worlds 2023, so their season ended several months ago.

It is uncertain whether KCorp would keep the core of players that dominated the LFL this season. However, the arrival of Upset could considerably increase the quality of this squad, which also has some talented young players.

Likewise, the 2024 LEC is still a long time away, so KCorp has time to define and look for the missing pieces.
