DreamLeague S23 WEU Qualifier preview

DreamLeague S23 will bring together 12 teams from all over the world. Four of them are already qualified because they received direct invitations. The other eight will need to qualify by winning the qualifier in their region. The only exception is Western Europe. This region received two qualification spots.

On the other hand, this is by far the most competitive region in the world. The Dota 2 teams that play here are extremely experienced and accomplished. When you have competitors like Team Liquid and Team Secret in the same tournament, you know from the start that the matches will be fun to watch.

20th-22nd: NA, EEU & SEA
22nd-24th: WEU, CN & SA
23rd-24th: MENA

The WEU Qualifier for DreamLeague S23 takes place online, between March 22 – 24. Each day, the matches start around mid-day CET.

The tournament format is very simple. The teams start in the upper bracket and play best-of-three matches. Everyone gets two lives. There will be one upper bracket winner and one lower bracket winner.

Here are the eight teams who compete in the WEU Qualifier for DreamLeague Season 23:

The top five teams on this list have a real chance to finish in the top two and qualify for the $1 million event. The other three are underdogs. However, we shouldn’t exclude the possibility of a surprising result. We can’t know for sure how well-trained are the newcomers.

Favorites

Team Liquid have a lot to prove at this tournament. At DreamLeague S22, they played poorly and were eliminated before they could even reach the second stage. Their 13^th – 14^th place result was disappointing, to say the least.

This team has a strong roster and should prove capable of winning this event. Even though zai is no longer with them, the new roster already showed what they can do at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, where they finished 2^nd.

OG should, in principle, finish 2^nd here. They were 6^th at DreamLeague S22 and have a two-time TI champion on their roster. Ceb is an excellent captain and he’s been back for almost a year now. This means that he should be in great shape right now and fully aware of the meta.

His individual technique has always been good, but that’s not very important for his role. As position 5, you don’t need to perform miracles. All you need is a great strategic mind.
