The fifth day of stage 2 of DreamLeague S19 ended with another round of victories for Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid. These two competitors seem to be the big favorites at every Dota 2 event these days. With four victories and just one defeat, both of them are practically qualified for the playoffs.

At the bottom of the rankings table we find TSM, whose record is equivalent to elimination: 1 W – 4 L. With only two more matches left to be played and just two qualification spots for the playoffs, anything below 4 W – 3 L will likely be insufficient.

Day 5 results

Once again, four matches were played and the results were predictable. The only question mark was the match between Evil Geniuses and Shopify Rebellion. This was the first battle of the day and it ended well for the former EG roster.

Shopify won game 1 thanks to a very inspired Morphling pick, then lost to this hero in game 2, but ended the series on a positive note with a bizarre draft that shouldn’t have worked.

EG picked Batrider for the final game, as well as Lone Druid and Dragon Knight. Their draft looked scary on paper. But Shopify still managed to win with a position 1 Abaddon, whose gpm was remarkable: 731.

In the match between Team Liquid and beastcoast, only the first game was interesting to watch. Despite being 9000 gold behind, Liquid ended up winning with a position 1 Ursa. We rarely see Ursa winning after the 50-minute mark, but beastcoast made enough mistakes to let it happen.

In particular, their Tiny player, Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera was extremely greedy and bought two Divine Rapiers. This proved to be a grave mistake.

The match between Gaimin Gladiators and Tundra Esports should have been much closer. But Gladiators are simply too strong at the moment and the TI champions crumbled in half an hour in both games. The heroes played by Quinn “Quinn” Callahan’s team may redefine the meta. Bounty Hunter and Disruptor were picked twice.

The final match of the day was a battle for survival. TSM faced OG and lost because of one error that they made in game 3. And they made it before the game even began. They ignored Lycan and OG picked him. This terrifying hero received the help of Slark, Tiny, Enchantress, and Snapfire. OG ended the game in just 32 minutes.
