DPC 2023 Tour 3 NA final results

Tour 3 has come to an end and North America’s Division I had one gigantic upset. TSM, the team that won Tour 1 and Tour 2, failed to qualify for the Bali Major.

This failure could result in their removal from the top 12 after the Major, because they’re currently ranked 10^th with 900 points and there are several teams that are not that far away from them. These teams will participate in the Major, where a top four or even a top six result could give them enough points to reach the top 12 in the DPC rankings.

Unsurprisingly, the winners of Tour 3 in NA’s Division I were Shopify Rebellion. The team led by Tal “Fly” Aizik won seven consecutive matches and only lost a single game. Everyone who faced them learned the hard way that this team can no longer be defeated in the current meta.

Fly’s knowledge of the game is vast, so he usually doesn’t need more than a few weeks after a new patch is released to figure out what would work best for his team. The only question is: how will Shopify Rebellion perform internationally?

It’s one thing to succeed regionally, against opponents that have very little skill, and it’s another thing to beat teams like Gaimin Gladiators and 9Pandas.

At the upcoming Bali Major, we will get to see the strength of NA’s greatest team against the strength of the best teams from regions that are regarded as being much stronger than NA, such as WEU, China, and even EEU.

The team that surprised us all in Tour 3 was nouns. They finished with a record of 6 W – 1 L and will compete at the Bali Major. At the start of the Tour, very little was expected from them. They do have a former TI finalist (David “Moo” Hull) on their roster, but their result is still impressive.

Unfortunately for them, the region’s overall strength level is so low that their odds at the Major are very slim. Most likely, they will finish near the bottom of the rankings table and then get asked to compete in regional qualifiers for The International 2023.

If TSM remain in the top 12 and get a direct invite to TI12, nouns will 100% qualify for the tournament. But if the two teams will have to compete against each other, TSM are the favorites.
