The International 2022 features 20 participants, 12 of whom will be directly invited to the tournament. These 12 teams will be selected at the end of the third DPC Major based on the Dota Pro Circuit rankings.

In this article, we looked at what the situation looks like at the moment for the Western European and North American Dota 2 teams.

DPC 2021 – 2022 rankings

Usually, the Dota Pro Circuit rankings table has a lot of Chinese teams in the top 12. But this year, the situation is a bit different. All of the six DPC regions are well-represented and Western Europe has the highest number of competitors that are likely to receive a direct invite to TI12.

Western Europe

WEU is represented by OG, Gaimin Gladiators, and Tundra Esports. The first two of these teams have a high chance of maintaining their top 12 spot even after the final DPC Major of 2022. So far, their results have earned them 1140 and 1130 points respectively.

OG saw poor results in Tour 1 but ended up winning Tour 2 as well as the second Major. As for Gaimin Gladiators, they finished Tour 2 in second place and the Major in fourth place. The two teams currently occupy excellent positions in the DPC rankings table — third and fourth.

Tundra Esports currently have 712 points and occupy ninth place. Their position is far from secure but it seems that Tour 3 will bring them sufficient points to guarantee their spot at TI12.

Another Western European team that’s likely to finish in the top 12 and earn a direct invite to The International 2022 is Team Liquid. With 590 points, Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen’s team is currently ranked 13th but have a high chance of finishing first in WEU’s Tour 3 Division 1.

North America

In North America, the strongest teams so far have been TSM, Evil Geniuses, and Quincy Crew. However, only TSM are currently ranked in the top 12. Their spot in the next edition of The International is guaranteed at this point. Enzo “Timado” Gianoli’s squad has amassed 1280 points and is currently ranked second.

Evil Geniuses and Qunicy Crew are ranked 14th and 16th respectively, with 552 and 282 points. This means that they will need good results in Tour 3 and especially at the third DPC Major of the season.

EG’s strong point is that they have one of the best captains in the history of the game — Tal “Fly” Aizik. As for Quincy Crew, they recently brought in Adrian “FATA” Trinks, who is an exceptional captain. If there’s anyone who can help QC earn a spot at The International this season, it’s definitely him.
