ESL One Berlin Major marked the end of the second DPC Tour for this season. The teams that did well in this tournament are likely to receive a direct invite to The International 12 at the end of the regular season.

Of course, there’s one more Tour to be played, but some of the teams that are currently in the top 12 are almost guaranteed their spot at TI. It will be very hard for most of the competitors from outside this top to catch up with them, unless something really unusual happens in Tour 3.

Current rankings

Right now, the number one team in the world in terms of accumulated points is Team Liquid. They are arguably the second-best in the game, but their consistency has helped them to reach the top of the rankings table.

The second team in this table is Gaimin Gladiators. Despite winning the first two Majors of 2023, the team led by Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp lost a lot of points in Western Europe’s Division I. In Tour 1, Gladiators finished second but in Tour 2 they finished third. Meanwhile, Team Liquid won both Tours.

It’s interesting to see just how much these results weigh compared to those obtained at the Majors. Normally, you would expect Majors to be worth a lot more than regional tournaments. But Valve’s policy is to guarantee all regions at least a few spots at The International. This is being done with the goal of promoting the game worldwide.

The third ranked team is Talon Esports. With 1020 points, Talon’s spot at TI12 is pretty much guaranteed. All they need to do now is to finish Tour 3 in the top five. But even if they don’t, there’s a very low chance that all the other regions will be won by underdogs that will then go on to do well at the third Major too.

And without such results, Talon simply cannot lose their top 12 spot that guarantees a direct invite to The International 12.

Here are the other top teams:

  • Evil Geniuses: 970
  • 9Pandas: 896
  • Beastcoast: 700
  • TSM: 700
  • Shopify Rebellion: 670
  • Tundra Esports: 660
  • Execration: 540
  • Team Spirit: 520
  • BetBoom Team: 460
  • Xtreme Gaming: 424
  • Team Aster: 408
  • OG: 404
  • LGD: 384

These are the teams that are realistically fighting for a spot in the top 12 and many of them have already done enough to 99% secure it.
