With the BLAST TV Paris Major just days away, Valve has finally unveiled the  sticker collection designs for the upcoming Paris Major 2023, CS:GO’s last-ever Major. While the designs are reminiscent of stickers from Katowice 2014, it was still quite late for the release of the sticker collection before the Major.

Unlike Valve’s other Major esports title — Dota2 — CS:GO Majors do not feature a crowdfunded prize pool. Instead, teams and players receive shares from sale of the in-game cosmetics such as stickers, souvenir cases, and viewer passes. The income from these items is split 50/50 with Valve.

Needless to say, revenue from sticker sales is pretty important for the teams, which have been in the seven figures for the past few years.

When will major stickers be added?

The Challengers Stage of the BLAST TV Paris Major on May 8th is fast approaching and the stickers are finally live today. For previous Majors, these stickers were released between three weeks and five days in advance. There are only three days left until the first match in Paris. It’s the longest delay for stickers before a major.

Fear not, they’re really coming, although the CEO of NiP made a bad joke that there wouldn’t be any stickers this year. Players have already submitted their designs and you can see them hereThe majority of the community assumed the stickers would go live no later than May 3rd, and even streamers stayed up late waiting for the announcement.

If Valve doesn’t release the stickers today, they will make an anti-record for the lateest release of stickers to a major.

Stickers are finally here

Although it was expected that the stickers would go live yesterday, May 4th, they actually only came out today. Actually, the weekend is not the best time for the release. Last year’s Rio Major stickers still needed updates after the release, so this time, Valve probably wanted to take their time to fix any issues before the weekend arrives.

Then there is the delay for the Pick’Ems, which are not entirely insignificant. Eventually, players want to start making their predictions about which teams will qualify for the Challengers stage. Players will have a few days at most to make their pick ’ems.

The delay might also have something to do with the release of the Anubis Collection that came into the game recently. Although a case costs $2, Valve has already made over $10 million from it. Now that the stickers have finally been released, the Anubis cases might not be that interesting anymore either.
