The playoffs of CS Asia Championships are about to start. Just six of the initial eight teams are left in the race but they are the strongest. With one exception, Lynn Vision, every one of the remaining competitors is either a current or former formidable team.

At this point, it is not easy to predict who will win, even though FaZe Clan demonstrated since the release of CS2 that they are the best team in the world. Winning both IEM Sydney and Thunderpick World Championships was a powerful statement.

But FaZe did not stop there. At CS Asia Championships, they won their group by defeating their two strongest rivals, MOUZ, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. In the match against NiP, the final score was 28-25, which is unbelievable considering the fact that the standard format is MR12. The two teams essentially played the equivalent of more than two maps in one.

MOUZ managed to win the first map against FaZe with a very tight score: 13-11. But on the next two maps, karrigan’s team made a spectacular comeback and advanced to the semifinals.

In the other group of the tournament, Astralis lost a single map, against ENCE: 13-10 on Vertigo. On the other three maps they played, they proved to be unstoppable: 13-4 on Ancient against Lynn Vision, 13-2 on Overpass against ENCE, and 13-3 on Ancient against ENCE.

Playoffs predictions

In the quarterfinals of CS Asia Championships, MOUZ will likely have a very easy match against Lynn Vision. But the battle between ENCE and NiP will be tough for both sides.

MOUZ had to play against NiP around six months ago and lost. But back then, their roster was not even close to being as strong as it is now. On the other hand, NiP demonstrated in the match against FaZe Clan that they are both eager and capable of winning again.

The most likely result in this match is 2-1 in favor of ENCE. But NiP certainly have a decent chance of winning with the same score. Whoever wins this match will need to play against FaZe Clan in the semifinals, which is almost guaranteed to be a lost battle.

The match between Astralis and MOUZ should be really fun to watch. The two teams met at IEM Cologne in August. But Astralis have upgraded their roster since then and are now much stronger. Either team could win. FaZe Clan are the overall favorites.
