R6 NAL: A Strong Top 4, First Team Secures Major Slot

After seven match-days, the SSG boys have booked their ticket to Sweden. The Top 4 has built up quite a lead over the rest. The other teams would all need at least two match wins to catch up to SSG, Oxygen, Soniqs, and TSM!

The North American League race is tigheting up – but not really at the top, rather at the bottom of the standings. Relegation looms for the last-placed team. Right now, this would be XSET, but Mirage, Astralis, beastcoast, and DarkZero all only have a one-point lead over that team!

Spacestation Gaming don’t have any of these problems, however. Just like in Stage 2, they were the first team to qualify for the Major. Oxygen and the rest can still overtake them, but there’s no scenario in which they leave the Top 4 anymore. So they’re already qualified for the Stage 3 Finals as well, which are due to take place later this year.

The 7th Match-Day

TSM made it past Susquehanna Soniqs on a 7-4 scoreline. This cost the latter a whopping two spots in the standings, but the TSM boys are now back inside the Top 4. DarkZero stood no chance against Spacestaion Gamng, who shamed their old in-game-leader with a 7-2 finish. Astralis and beastcoast brawled over a few points and Oxygen flattened XSET on a 7-1 scoreline. All these results just go to show which teams have a clear shot at making the Major.

What Will Happen on the Last Two Days?

SSG essentially have the first place down already. They’ll only have to contend with XSET and beastcoast now. Going up against DarkZero and Soniqs, Oxygen still have two tough opponents ahead of themselves. They need to put their faith in TSM not playing their best. However, the TSM players are slated to fight XSET and Mirage, so they should be able to come through comfortably.

Since DarkZero have only got one comparatively easy match coming up, their chances of making the Top 4 are getting progressively smaller. This would be quite a disappointing finish for Troy “Canadian” Jaroslawski. The Six Invitational winner had just recently announced his return to play under the DZ banner, and now, in his first stage, he’ll have to pass on the Major already.

For him, this would also mean the end to the 2021 season. DarkZero might still have to fight through the North American Six Invitational Qualifier, since their Global Standings points aren’t the greatest. Spacestation, however, can lean back comfortably – at least with regards to SI. They’ve still got the Sweden Major and the NAL Finals ahead of themselves.
